That’s a really good one. I have a few even though I’m sure there are more. It isn’t a surprise that these are some of my favorite chapters. (｡◕‿◕｡)

1. Chapter 30

This one is the earliest i think Kyoru focused chapter. It’s where Tohru gets sick so Kyo cooks for her. Seriously one of the sweetest scenes ever. I love this one because it shows how Kyo is willing to provide for her. 

This is so off topic, but one of my favorite book series is A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. It takes place in a world that has faeries. Some of the faeries develop “mating bonds” with each other and one thing that the females do for the males to show that they accept the bond is cook for them. Although, Kyo is male and he’s the one cooking for Tohru, it always reminded me of that part of the book. In other words, I thought of it as Kyo telling her “I really like you.” ;)

2. Chapter 33

The entire true form arc is obviously centered on Kyo and his backstory, then later on Tohru comes in to save him. And the moment she begs him to come home has to be one of the most powerful scenes in the series. It’s an unforgettable chapter.

3. Chapter 46

In this one, Tohru, Kyo and Yuki are thinking about their future after high school since parent/teacher conferences are coming up where they’ll be discussing it. Not surprisingly, it’s a stressful time for all of them as thinking about the future is daunting when it seems so far out of reach. 

Tohru starts to cry for Kyo when he tells her that his future will be decided for him and he has no choice in the matter because he’s the cat. He really knows it’s because he will be locked up after graduation, but he obviously doesn’t tell her that. 

  Seeing her cry over him was sweet. It’s one of the times she showed just how much she worried over him and wanted him to be successful and happy. She’s supported him from the beginning. This chapter focused on Yuki too, but Kyo and Tohru took the spotlight.

4. Chapter 52

They go to Kazuma’s house to have lunch with him and end up cooking together. I’ve touched on this one before here, but I’ll quickly mention it again. I enjoyed seeing them bond over cooking. It was way too cute. ( ･∀･)

5. Chapter 76

This is where they take their school trip. It’s also what I think is one of the earliest parts where Tohru realizes her true feelings for Kyo. She’s afraid of him pushing her away and can almost feel him doing so. She ends her inner monologue with “Kyo is special”. dawwww.

6. Chapter 120

This goes for chapter 119 as well. The last few chapters of the series heavily focus on Kyo and Tohru, understandably because their arc has to be wrapped up. Tohru’s love confession to him gives me chills every time I read it. It may seem out of character for her to be so....assertive. And yet it’s not. Because she’s been building up to this point and she has been developed flawlessly. It was also Kyo’s influence on her, when he told her time and time again to speak up for herself and tell people what you want, that she was finally like “IDGAF what you say I should feel about you or what you did to my mother. I just love you and that’s never going to change.” I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS AGAIN.

7. Chapter 129

Best chapter ever and every Kyoru fan will probably agree. ;) I can’t even imagine having to wait for this chapter or the last volume in general while the manga was ongoing (because I read it a few years after it was completed.) That would’ve been torture! I’d be like “I wanna see them get together already!!”

The build up to their relationship paid off in the end and the moment they came to terms with how they truly felt about each other was beautiful. Such a stunning scene.

8. Chapter 134

Their first date! With Hana and Uo chaperoning lol. It was so cool to actually see them go out together as a couple. They also visited her mother’s grave and it’s there where Kyo tells her that he wants her to go with him when he moves to train to take over Kazuma’s dojo. It was a new chapter to their story. ｡^‿^｡

because i wanted to try writing a mushy confession scene, too, dammit

Biting his lip, Wei Ying said, ‘I have a confession to make, HanGuang-Jun.’

Lan Zhan looked at him, at his properly kneeling figure and bowed head. Dread pricked at Lan Zhan’s heart. Had something happened without him knowing?

Wei Ying glanced at him from under his eyelashes. ‘Will you hear my confession?’

Nodding once, Lan Zhan mimicked Wei Ying and placed his hands on his lap.

‘Lan Zhan, I — ’

He stopped. The normally talkative Wei Ying who could chatter someone’s ear off was at a loss for words. Something must have shown on his face because Wei Ying shook a hand at him and hurriedly said, ‘It’s nothing bad, I promise! I’m just — I’m just — ’ He took a deep breath and looked Lan Zhan in the eye. ‘Lan Zhan, I like you.’

Lan Zhan’s heart skipped a beat. He already knew this but hearing it again struck him just as much as the first time had.

Wei Ying went on: ‘I like you a lot. A ridiculous amount. Even when I thought you hated me back then, I already liked you. You know, I always insisted we were friends even when everybody said we weren’t. Even you.’ A sudden smile, wide and fond. ‘Well, I had a feeling you would resist it so I’m not offended. It was actually great fun to watch you try not to react to me! Besides, look where we are now.’

Slowly, the smile was replaced by a rare, solemn look. ‘Ah, I’m sorry, Lan Zhan. I’ve said it before, right? I didn’t mean to cruelly tease you. If I had known what you did, I wouldn’t have said and done those things. I would have — well, I don’t know what I would have done, really, but not like that. Not to hurt you.’

At this, Lan Zhan had to speak. ‘Wei Ying, it doesn’t matter. You don’t have to apolgise. It’s not needed between us.’

Wei Ying shook his head and the warmth in his eyes was enough to make Lan Zhan’s ears burn. ‘It’s really sweet you think that but let me just say it once, alright?’

‘Then you’ve already said it,’ Lan Zhan told him.

Wei Ying blinked, then laughed. ‘Ha, fine. I’ll stop apologising. You don’t like it when I say thank you, am I right?’

Lan Zhan nodded. Wei Ying smiled again. ‘You’re so weird, Lan Zhan. Alright. No sorrys and thank yous. How did I start this again? Oh, right.’ He reached out and took hold of Lan Zhan’s sleeve. ‘I like you, Lan Zhan. I like you so much it’s crazy. You’re wonderful. You’re the most amazing person I know.’

The words were familiar and dear. Since that night in the temple, Lan Zhan had carefully preserved them in his heart which had squeezed so tight there was barely any room for more happiness. Even now, his chest felt cramped. Warmth flooded his cheeks, his entire being. There was no wind, no rain, no storm, no darkness. Instead, there was the soft glow from the lantern, the silvery flow of moonlight from the window. He could see Wei Ying illuminated by the lamp and the moon. Wei Ying was beautiful enough to light up the whole world.

Wei Ying took his hands and squeezed them.

‘I want to be with your forever. I want to night hunt with you. I want to bind our hands with your ribbon. For me, there is nobody else. I think, from the beginning, it’s always been you: rival, friend, saviour, lover. I’ve been calling your name for so long and I’ve only just realised why.’ Smiling, Wei Ying brought Lan Zhan’s hands up and kissed his knuckles. ‘Lan Zhan, I’ve been really stupid, huh?’

‘Not stupid,’ said Lan Zhan shakily. ‘Stubborn.’

Wei Ying laughed. Lan Zhan wished he could bottle the sound. ‘That, too. Lan Zhan, I don’t deserve you but I’m shameless enough to keep you anyway. Have I said it yet? Lan Zhan, I love you.’

Breath caught in his throat, Lan Zhan rose up on his knees and hugged Wei Ying fiercely. This, too, was familiar. He let his warmth soak through him, repeating the words over and over in his head and letting them tumble out of his mouth and into Wei Ying’s ear. With every word, Lan Zhan slowly pushed Wei Ying down on the floor. Wei Ying’s hair spilled like ink around him. Lan Zhan kissed his mouth softly and delicately.

‘Lan Zhan,’ sighed Wei Ying, his fingers undoing the sash around Lan Zhan’s waist. ‘Did you hear me? Did you hear me this time?’

‘I heard you the first time,’ said Lan Zhan. Wei Ying’s robes had slipped down one shoulder, and he bent down and nibbled on the gently rounded end.

‘I know, but I wanted to say it again. Properly. To make sure you didn’t think it was a spur of the moment reaction from what your brother told me.’

‘I didn’t think it was,’ said Lan Zhan and meant it. Wei Ying only had to say it once for Lan Zhan to believe him.

‘Oh.’ Wei Ying arched underneath him and brought their faces close together. ‘Did you like hearing it again, Lan Zhan?’

How shameless. Smiling, Lan Zhan bit and licked his neck and then whispered into his ear, ‘Yes, very much.’

‘Then, I’ll say it as many times as you like. I like you, I love you, I want you.’

‘Again.’ He’d become shameless, too.

‘I like you — ’

‘Again.’

‘I love you — ’

‘Wei Ying, again.’

A short, barely decent comic for WangXian~ Mostly sweet for the holiday hehe Happy Valentine’s Day!

I did the outline and lineart for this exactly 4 months ago (a total coincidence btw lol), but I never finished coloring it in. But here we are, it’s WangXian Week anyway, so I plucked it from my WIP pile, fixed it up a bit, then just tried to make it look like a comic XD
