Components Required:

A white candle, and the ability to light it

A marking tool (pen, marker, paint)

A scrap of cloth

A full moon with a clear sky on the 13th night of a given month

The name of the spirit you wish to contact

Altar Preparations:

Place your altar under the light of the moon.

Cast your circle.

Craft the sigil onto the cloth ensuring that the ring in the center is larger than the candle that you are using.

Place the candle in the center  of the sigil. Do not light it.

Place any additional objects of power associated with the Magickal Information section on empty space outside of the sigil on your altar. 

If you are using additional candles you may light them now but do not light the candle in the center.

Ritual instructions: Once the altar preparations are finished light the candle in the center. Call to the spirit you are seeking by name. When they arrive you will see the candle flicker. From there you may speak freely to the spirit. They will answer you by manipulating the candle. When you are finished be to thank the spirit and say goodbye. Extinguish the flame and wrap the candle in the cloth. It is then in your best interest to purify the materials in which ever way you see fit (I prefer to soak them in salt or moon water for twenty-four hours). 

Witch’s Note: Having an extended conversation with this ritual is tricky. Not only because of the nature of communicating using only a candle, but due to the unpredictability of the sky. The connection with the spirit will be broken if the moon is, in even the smallest way, obscured. This means that you must keep your conversations brief. If the connection is broken thank the spirit, say goodbye, wrap the candle in the cloth, and purify the materials and remember...

White candles or salt

A bowl or similar vessel

Magickally purified water

A full moon

Altar Preparations:

Cast your circle.

Place your altar under the light of the moon.

Place the vessel in the center of the altar.

Surround the vessel with the candles or salt (or both).

Place the water opposite yourself outside of the circle on your altar

Place any additional objects of power on empty space outside of the circle on your altar.

Ritual instructions: Light the candles and begin crafting the sigils upon your object of power using your marking tool (This can be done before the ritual as long as you purify the object before bringing it into the circle). Fill the vessel with water. Then delicately place the object upon the surface of the water allowing it to sink down. Begin chanting the following:

I shall not fear, In fear is the heart of darkness, I shall not be afraid, In darkness life cannot grow, I shall live, In hand a torch to light the way, I shall be alive, In light there is no fear.

During the incantation visualize your fear. Allow yourself to compress this fear into a ball inside yourself. Then imagine the ball exposed to the flame of a torch. Burn the fear away. To maintain focus, allow the volume of your voice to match the intensity of the flame. Soft at first, then increasing in volume as the fire grows brighter, and finally fading to nothing as the ball is completely devoured by the power of your energies. Once the fear has been completely burned away, you may stop chanting. Take your object from the water and keep it on your person. You may now close the circle.
