I feel like people kind of miss the point with the priory in the Roots of Chaos books, because people act like the priory is perfect and everywhere else sucks. Don't get me wrong, it has a lot of good parts, but it is essentially a cult (I believe Thrit even comments on this in ADOFN) where people are forced into roles by birth based on their gender, and cannot interact with the outside world without permission. And anyone who goes against its rules or wants a different life is punished. In addition, it has a lot of corruption, mostly in Priory but even a bit in ADOFN. It's way too simplistic to say Priory good Virtudom bad.
