makkiβs ceiling is covered in glow-in-the-dark stars. Itβs a remnant of his childhood, something his parentβs have been begging him to remove for years.Β It took hours to glue up the many multitudes, packing them on until they covered almost every inch, until his popcorn ceiling turned into his own internal sky. The first night he had plastered them up his whole room was alight with that comforting green glow. He bathed in it, savored the way to slowly faded, the tiny shadows they cast slowly disappearing into darkness, and he believed in magic. Yes, logically, he understand that it was simply stored sunlight, but even the simple science felt special. He knew he wasnβt under the real night sky, but his mind could transform those pieces of plastic into the jewels of the solar system. Here, tucked into bed, he was close to the universe, almost close enough to reach out and touch.
Every time his eyes started to droop into sleep, his imagination started blurring the lines of reality, and suddenly, instead of laying in bed, he would be drifting through the kaleidoscope of the universe. Drifting through the icy glitter of saturnβs rings, spotting cometβs that have never been seen before, twinkling through the sky like emeralds- anything was possible. The warmth he felt was no longer from the covers protecting him, it was from the warmth of suns, burning in galaxies far away.
Now when Makki lays under the same roof, the sky is more scattered. Most of the stars are gone, having dropped randomly through out the years, replaced with dusty brown patches of residue. Sometimes, now that heβs fully grown, he can reach out and touch them while standing. They feel cold and sticky, like smooth plastic glued to spackle.
He read once that the universe is still expanding. Everything is slowly drifting away from each other, growing farther and farther apart. Not only that, itβs falling into entropy. Everything is becoming a victim to disorder and chaos. One day, the real sky will fall apart, just like his.
Makki canβt form into words why he feels empathy towards his creationβs slow demise. He csnβt understand why the idea of the stars growing farther and farther away from their friends makes him feel acute aware of how much time has passed since high school. He just thinks itβs ironic that now, under his parentβs roof in the bed heβs had for years, this is suddenly the place he feels like he isnβt drifting away.Β

if i may slide in to add to the recommendation list,,, if you're looking for thriller/horror i highly recommend higurashi no naku koro ni or promised neverland! this is more dark & gritty than thriller & its definitely not for everyone but one of fav animes is fate/zero so maybe give it a try? also !! i agree with miss sal attack on titan is so so good u should def watch π€ and for anime movies, i HIGHLY recommend maquia: when the promised flower blooms. made me sob like a bitch π₯²
