I was traveling around the borders of the map in oblivion remastered and you can see the throat of the world in Skyrim from the Jerall mountains
So that’s a niche detail that I’m going insane over
I don't know anything about Skyrim, why is it significant?
So the games Oblivion and Skyrim take place in the same universe but in different countries.
The throat of the world is the tallest mountain in Skyrim and a place where much of the main story takes place. It’s also a holy site in lore.
Similarly, the white gold tower in oblivion is one of the tallest structures in the universe that these games take place in and is a holy site.
If you go far south in Skyrim and stand in the exact right spot you can see the white gold tower very far away.
Now in oblivion remastered if you go really far north you can see the throat of the world very far away.
It kinda feels profound when you love this fictional universe. All the adventures you had in another lifetime, they’re right over there. You know that logically they’re not really because it’s just out of bounds in a video game but spiritually they’re there.
In one of the Skyrim dlcs you can see the red mountain far away which is a volcano that appeared in the game Morrowind in the same series and it’s a similar feeling looking at that too. Like wow all the adventures I had killing gods and watching wizards fall out of the sky are right over there.
In lore there’s also tower theory related to certain structures that are pillars of reality or at least theorized to be. The throat of the world, the red mountain, and the white gold tower are three of these sites. So to your character in game, seeing these things off in the distance can also be profound in-universe. Like wow there’s a whole pillar of the universe over there so big I can see it from here.
