Ministry Attack: @gideonprewxtt
Ryland raced to the elevators once inside. It felt like a terrible plan, but if the Ministry had stairs, he'd never used them. He hadn't spent much time here at all. He'd occasionally visited friends at work or come for a Gringotts collaboration, but Ryland had very few instincts to fall back on in this situation. He had to try, though. Perhaps because of his background with security, Ryland's first thought had been the Department of Mysteries and some of the weapons it possessed. If Death Eaters got their hands on those, it would be all over.
Somehow Ryland secured a lift by himself and headed down. He gripped his wand tightly, not know what he'd find at the bottom. When the doors opened to reveal a masked figure, they seemed as surprised as Ryland. Still with Bran barking orders in his head, Ryland called out a stunning spell. It hit, and even better, it worked! Ryland knew it wouldn't hold them long, so he lifted the figure under their arms and dragged them back into the lift. That could be someone else's problem.
Lift sent back up, Ryland looked around. He didn't know what he was trying to find, but it needed protecting. With that idea in mind, he set off down the hall.

Gideon had been at work when chaos had erupted around him. His wing of the ministry was locked up tight against everyone who didnât work there but that meant nothing truly. He had his suspicions about a few of his colleagues and he thought at least one of them was for sure in league with the dark lord. He scrambled to get all of his work secured as news came of the attack. Whispers that the ministry was about to fall into the hands of the death eaters left him chilled and he drew his wand as he made his way out into the corridor.Â
He had thoughts of finding Frank. He wondered who would be flocking to the ministry. He stepped into the hallway his wand held out ready to strike at anyone who would try coming this way. This was the most secure part of the building and everything considered dangerous or top secret was kept in or near this wing. He was walking towards the lift when he heart a sound of someone approaching. He aimed his wand about chest level of whoever it would be and almost yelled out a jinx before Ryland came into view.Â
âRyland what are you doing up here?â He was relieved to see him but he was concerned to see him there as well. His feelings had only grown for his closest friend over the past couple months and he hated the thought of him in danger. âAre you looking for something?â
Ryland froze as he came nose to tip with a wand, but he sighed in relief as he realized it was Gideon. You, he almost said, but that hadnât been his intention. Not really. Just a nice plus to know Gideon was safe. âI thought there might be some things that needed protecting down here. I know you donât talk much about your work, but it seemed important to keep the Death Eaters away from it.
He glanced back down the hall. âI think I found a friend on my way here. Well, friend might not be the best word. Howâs your spellwork today?â Ryland was already pushing his luck--and skill--just by being there.
