Sorry again for the delayed response! (I’m much easier to contact on other social media, I forget to check Tumblr constantly)As for the selling of TAZ merch, the McElroys have not to my knowledge ever actually stated that they don’t want fan merch of TAZ being sold for profit. There is no official posting on their website, Tumblr, or Twitter. I’ve even emailed the McElroy's business email and TAZ email about it for clarification, but with no response. The “sources” that are going around of them stating this are two things: one, Justin’s mention of Redbubble (which is rather vague in what it’s referencing, but it seems to be of people taking actual TAZ art - ie the logo or album art and using it on Redbubble, when they don’t own the work, so it’s stealing), and a supposed comment from Travis on Facebook (which has no source, only a screenshot, so there’s no telling if it’s real).Trust me, I’ve looked into this quite a bit before making merch, and if they were to make an official statement saying they don’t want fan merch being sold, then I will take my TAZ merch down. However, there is no actual statement or proof to indicate that that’s what they want. (It seems to be that they don’t particularly care, as they haven’t cared to comment on it officially and that it doesn’t really compete with merch they would make - they seem to avoid physical representations of the characters for the most part (aside from the graphic novel and taako shirt) because of the backlash they’ve received from fans about it).I initially made the merch for myself, but kept producing it due to demand and being able to share my love of TAZ with others! I love when people ask about the buttons on my bag, or the charm on my purse so I can open up a conversation to telling them about the Podcast (I’ve introduced SO many people at cons to the podcast due to them asking about the charm).Phew, this got wordy, but I hope this clarifies my stance.
