I like the set of minor scans that feature a warning to all Space Pirates working in the labs that metroids and other specimens are not pets and should not be treated as such.

Then about 3 rooms later you scan a contained metroid that is noted to be sick from ingesting several space pirate rations and pet treats.

The "don't feed the Metroids" log even returns in Prime 2 and 3, basically escalating to "no, seriously, don't feed them" and then to "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP"
