“Yeah, it has been kinda quiet lately, from us… let’s do it!” Sebin said, looking up from her phone. “Did you have anything in mind, or should we try to find something together?”

“i mean, i always have a running list of songs i want to cover someday in my head, but i thought it’d be best to pick it together-- best way to find something that does us both justice,” sikyung pointed out with a smile

“Confidence, yeah…” Eli started. “Is there… such a thing as too much power?” Eli asked. They were looking over the choreography a ton, and there was a big move they were a little worried about accidentally hitting someone.

“You can never win, huh? Yeah, it’s probably for the best, then.”

“absolutely,” jinjoo agreed. “now all that has to happen is everyone needs to stop sleeping at you and see just how good you’ve become.”

“well, we’re hardly a top 10 group. we’re a fringe group. if the fans and my peers recognize it, that’s good enough for me,” sikyung answered with a smile.

“like i even talk to them. i didn’t even talk to somi that much before she left,” liyang answered. “i can be professional if i ever see them on the job. but i’m not going to jump to be their best friend or anything.”

“and that’s fair. you don’t have to be friends with everyone. you just can’t be cruel-- that’s where the blacklisting happens.”’

Noeul mentally counted the members in his head, and then again before blinking. “Shoot–you’re right. My bad,” he said. “You get my point, though… I guess I can look it up later.”

“yeah! there’s been huge improvement in your rapping,” jinjoo insisted. “before, it was just a thing that was there, but in black or white specifically, when you started rapping i had to pause the song. you’re a lot more impactful now.”

she smiled-- she took a lot of pride in her work. she’d always been someone who dedicated herself to her craft so she improved, and hearing that her work paid off meant a lot. “thank you. i was really happy with how that entire era turned out..... the chorus in scream too, i thought, is some of the best i’ve ever sounded.”

“which is so good, because i think it adds so much to burnout songs! i hope more groups follow suit,” jinjoo enthused. “not that you’re a bad rapper, or anything– you’re really good. but like…..you’re a good vocalist too…”

she giggled. “i didn’t take offense, don’t worry,” she laughed. “i do like singing. i’m glad they’re letting me branch out. but i’m proud of myself for becoming a better rapper over the years too.”

“i don’t want to get over it. i want to be better than them and shove it in their faces.”

“okay, well, do that then. and if spite is what gets you going, use it. but don’t start shit with the girls themselves. even though they’re fortunate, they don’t deserve it. do it to prove something to yourself.”

“don’t worry, i got what you meant. and to be completely fair, i started off pretty poorly on the rap front. i’ve worked hard to improve but.... i know it wasn’t always my strength.”
