“well, excited is progress. it’s a step in the right direction,” she chuckled. “the fact that you’re nervous is good to me, fuka. it means you want to do well. you want to do the promotion justice. your hands a good ones for mpwa to be in.”

“of course i do,” fuka insisted. “i risked so much coming her. and this is my dream. i want this to blossom and bloom...”

“keep talking like that, and i’ll just have to push you,” jeni laughed

she giggled, looking down at her toes. “please don’t. i’m tiny. you’re not. i’d fly.”

“we’re booking this ourselves,” she laughed, rolling her eyes back. “it’s all just building to you getting the belt. it’s going to be so cathartic.”

“who needs writers these days?” she joked, as if she and himari weren’t hugely involved in creative anyway. “i’m...still scared of that part but.... excited.”

“i mean, i get that. but at a certain point, you have to take that leap of faith, fuka. you have to have that belief in yourself and jump.”

“i guess asking when i’ll feel ready for that leap of faith is kind of silly, huh?” she asked sheepishly

“it would be fun if, say…. there’s a big struggle to throw someone out. like four or five people trying to push one person out. and then when it’s done, we reset, and we’re face to face until someone else spears one of us or something.”

“i could totally see you getting speared,” fuka giggled, rolling her eyes. “that sounds so good though. like that moment of tension.... you get speared, i get thrown out later, and it never gets resolved. i love it.”

“i… that’s really nice of you to say,” meilin retorted, absolutely beaming. for someone who claimed to not be that into wrestling, and who only was doing it as her second choice, she was so happy to be succeeding in it. “i’m wrestling jeni next week, and i’m honestly kind of scared. she’s so much bigger than me..”

“jeni’s a veteran of the industry, and she came up through stardom. she’s very good at working with smaller talent,” fuka assured the young girl. “she’s going to be very careful about how she throws you or performs moves on you. as long as you have your landings down, you have nothing to worry about.”

“yeah, but if you know where your weaknesses are, then that’s good. you know what to work on to further yourself. and you could always find a manager– brock lesnar has been the biggest draw for years, and i don’t think he’s said more than five words during that time,” jeni pointed out. “if that’s where you feel most comfortable, no one’s going to argue you. i just think you might be selling yourself a little short.”

“i guess i’m just making excuses, then,” fuka sighed, pushing her hair back out of her face. “i should push for more. but i’m nervous to. i just don’t think i’m ready.”

“yeah, but it would fit your story arc so nicely,” jeni pointed out with a shrug. “and it would get you over as the face of the entire company, which is absolutely what mpwa wants. you’re such a good pure babyface, and have the power to draw so many new eyes to us. putting the belt on you after an incredible arc would get so many people talking and watching our product.”

“i mean... i get it, i guess. i just feel nervous being the face of the company. i’m a good wrestler, but my promos need so much work. they’re nowhere near your level, or face of the company level. i think i could really just do well floating around the upper-midcard.”
