She'd only known the two of them a short while, but they didn't exactly strike Anya as the "stay out of trouble" type. anticipating dmitry's response, he grabs his phone. " wait, i'll google it. " the bright white glow of the search results illuminates his furrowed brow. " what's date and time notation ? "

She was this close to either locking Dmitry out of the train compartment or finding another one to spend the rest of the journey in. If it came to it, she would sit out in the corridor with Pooka—at least then she would get some polite conversation (in the form of yapping) from him. The same could not be said for that frustrating man who thought he knew it all!

But, as always, Vlad was the voice of reason and had switched seats with Anya so that she was no longer sitting directly beside Dmitry. Nor was she directly across from him since that would just set them off again, so she was by the door and trying her absolute best to pretend he did not exist.

…Which was hard to do when he was so loud and obnoxious.

She knew he was doing it on purpose. He was just that type who liked to rile someone up to get a reaction. Anya knew she shouldn’t rise to it, but she was never the sort to back down from a challenge, and, for some reason, her brain was seeing Dmitry as that—a challenge she had to win at.
