Thinking about one and only mr Ivan Karamazov and... it's honeslty so sad 😭 Like, tragedy of his character to me is that he cared so much. His life would've been a milion times easier if he just... didn't care. If he was the atheist nihilist type of person who would take "everything's permitted" and use it to his advantage and yet he doesn't! He cares so much and deeply about the question of suffering, the suffering of children... I jokingly like to call him a tortured intellectual, but really he is himself the torturer and the tortured. And his life honestly just seems... lonely to me. Like, we see him relatively often with people but never with people if you get me. And especially the part where he constantly refuses any help people offer him... and don't get me started on the devil. Just the fact that he fought himself so much over the guilt in the patricide and then went and admitted it in front of everyone! He had no reason to do that besides that he cared! He cared and continues to care and try to reason and find meaning in the sensless suffering life has to offer! And yet... he just drives himself over the edge as time goes... Like, Mitya's at least got Grushenyka, Alyosha at least as we left him doeasn't seem like he's gonna sink too deep too soon, but I really do not see how Ivan could get any better. How does a man like that live truly 😭

The Brothers Karamazov are replaced by the Bennet Sisters. Everything else happens as closely to the original plot as the gender bending of the main cast allows it.
