"Why would I wanna go to your stinking contest?"
Unovaâ it was a region of diversity, grandeur, big cities, and vast countrysides. Dawn herself had never been to the region, but a few friends had told her about it. Most coordinators from outside of the region never made it there, mainly because of itâs distance, but there were a few exceptions. International contests often attracted more people if itâs well known, such as the Wallace Cup, or a coordinator desperately needs a ribbon to make it to their regionâs Grande Festival.
So Dawn finds herself in some big city in Unovaâ Castelia, was it? With only four of the five required ribbons in order to enter the Grande Festival. At first, sheâs fascinated by the big city; it puts even Jubilife to shame. However, the bluenette decides that she doesnât have time to sight see; she needs to check in at the Contest Hall.
As the clock draws closer to showtime, Dawn becomes increasingly worriedâ is Barry really going to come? It wouldnât exactly surprise her if he didnât show up, the blond was never too much into contests. Distracted by her thoughts, she almost doesnât hear him. Eventually, she realizes that a loud, all-too familiar voice is calling out to her.
âOut of the way, out of the way! Dawn! Dawn! Hey!â
âBarry,â Dawn begins, turning to her friend. âItâs nice to see you and all, but donât be so disruptive! This is a contest hall, not a battlefield.â
"Ha! Don't try to pull that on me!" Barry plants his feet firm, fists on his hips as he turns his nose up at her. There she goes again, trying to act all high and mighty and oh so sophisticated. Admittedly, Dawn pulls it off pretty well. By that, Barry means it doesn't look too bad on her-- as if sophistication were a pair of earrings or a certain way she did her hair, not an attribute to carry.
It doesn't look too bad, but it's just sort of weird. Actually, weird is a euphemism; quite blatantly, Barry thinks it's boring. Dawn has a lot more color to her personality than she likes people to think nowadays, and it's both a combination of a stubbornness to let the young Dawn go and the fact that Barry would like to maintain the tiny age gap between them that leads him to continue on equally as loudly as before.
"I've seen enough of your contests to know there's a battle section, too!"
He smiles at her now, eyebrows perched and posture easing back. "So, you feelin' hot today, Dawn?" His eyes run over her choice of clothing. Is she even dressed for showtime yet? "What're you gonna wear and all that stuff?" Sounding doubtful in his tone, the blond creases his brow at the hem of her skirt, then back up to her face. Her hair isn't all done up-- "Yeesh, I can't believe you're not ready yet!" he grabs one of the locks that hangs off in front of her shoulder and whips it lightly with a flick of his wrist. "It's almost time, isn't it?"
