Dropped my truck off at the toyota dealer to diagnose the transmission on Saturday morning. 4 hours was expected, but it wasn’t done by Sunday evening. I had to wait Monday morning to get the car back.

Problem was the truck AT doesn’t engage last gear soon freaquently.

The dealer advisor reported on Saturday evening and suggested to replace a sensor to see how it goes. It’s expected done in Sunday morning. I have accepted it (costing less than $100).

Finally, he reported in the next day evening that the overdrive switch needs a replacement since it’s broken (it seems the circuit opened). He says it might chance to resolve the original issue. And step next diagnosis as necessary. It costs ~$800. He didn’t tell me a result of sensor replacement.

I called my truck back. Afterward drive to see how the overdrive switch goes. Then will decide to reschedule a service for switch replacement to this dealer. Or I might find another service shop.
