To make a long story short, I am about to enter a window of time where I will have many opportunities to discuss trans issues with a variety of high profile media outlets and even political leaders. This “moment”–which starts around now and should end around the holiday season–emerges from press opportunities related to the premier of the second season of Transparent: a Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning television show with a transgender protagonist. I will make my acting debut in the 2nd season in a supporting role, joining Alexandra Billings, Trace Lysette, and others as an openly trans actress on the show. I’m excited for what’s to come, but I understand the stakes.
I want to be the best representative of the trans community I can be, so I am inviting you to reblog this post with anything and everything you feel to be important right now to your wellbeing as a trans person. You can also message me. What are you struggling with, and what can the public and the government do to help you? I will do my best to share your concerns.
Lately, I have been doing what I can to get info about trans housing discrimination, employment discrimination, legislation potentials, healthcare access, and violence prevention into my press. I list statistics about trans murders and suicide attempts. I refer listeners/readers to transequlity.org.
