In the Mirror with Me Music, performance, installation, 48 Hours Neukolln, Berlin 2018 with PAPER Gallery © 2018 Ruby Tingle Based around songs from album ‘No Such Thing’ the piece was performed in two parts- the first located on the high level exhibition space in the Brüdergemeine Church, where autobiographical myths were presented via song. The second part formed a living multiple portrait of the artist set in a mirror installation, where the audience were invited to participate; their passing reflections making up fleeting and unnatural images in the space. Dressed as a monochrome version of herself, the performance expressed key themes of doubleness and multiplicity which occur within a metamorphosis, particularly those in science fiction. The transcendental, filmic presence of the artist made suggestions as to how we authenticate visual experiences as true or invented.

Ermine Exhibition: Performance, Installation and original score © Ruby Tingle Chetham’s Library Manchester- Commissioned and Produced as part of Manifest Arts Festival 2017. With collaborators Dirty Freud, Mike Chavez-Dawson and Simon Woolham. A living self portrait with original score installed in the Reading Room of Chethams Library; responsive ideas were drawn together along with fictional concepts set in the city, reflecting the Library’s collection of local folktales. A number of items in the library collection were of significant inspiration, including the Belle Vue photo archives and the donation of natural history curiosities including an alligator skin. Ermine was created by the artist as a new urban myth is set in the surrounding medieval quarter: a make-believe future Manchester has suffered an oil spill into the Irwell, forcing its water fowl to adapt and set up home in metropolitan habitats. Focusing on the unnatural presence of white in nature, the exhibition looked at imagined animal mutations as a result of manmade substances and interference- albino sewer alligators, golden insects and oil spill anomalies all featured as interventions within the library. 

Debut solo show The Land Is, combined new artworks and a living portrait, alongside a new album of original music. The installation and performance were made as a response to the album’s settings and themes; a collection of love songs which discuss conservation and loss, set in an imagined rural landscape, particularly focusing on the decline of amphibian populations and her recent experiences in the field with her herpetologist partner. During the exhibition visitors were able to interact with the artist situated within the gallery installation, and experience private performances of songs from the LP. Works on paper were presented as specimens set within an array of synthetic and biological interventions; the invented collection of an amateur naturalist. 

Menagerie in Blue (a performance for life drawing)  Performance, installation, Original score (c) 2015 Ruby Tingle Presented at sluice___2015 London and The Big Draw 2015 at University of Salford. Inspired by the rarity of the colour blue in nature and set in a mythic neotropics,  installations with sound interventions were created to form a life drawing class, where multiple versions of a living portrait could be recreated as works on paper.
