went to a convention and got a sketch commission of genesis! the artist had a ton of really cool ff7 art, I also got a great print of sephiroth

Angeal was dead. He turned into the monster he’d thought himself ever since the day Genesis had revealed to him the secrets of their births, and the day his mother killed herself in front of him. He’d turned into a monster and made the foolish little puppy put him down. How very honorable.

The bitter cold of Modeoheim (where Angeal’s corpse had faded away) had sunk into Genesis’s bones, and none of the heat of Banora’s sun could remove it. If this had been fifteen years ago, on one of those nights of a rare cold snap, Genesis would have snuck out his window and into Angeal’s. He’d crawl into his bed and stick his hands against Angeal’s neck to make him jump, and within a couple of minutes he’d have forgotten all about the cold.

This cold would never leave him, and there would be no warm bed to climb into, because Angeal was dead.

Dead, dead, dead. The word rang in his head in time with his footsteps down into the caves beneath Banora (where he and Angeal had used to play). The cold made the wound in his shoulder ache, and the weight of his wing was heavy on his back, tugging at the torn muscle. This monstrous appendage, this thing dark and crooked, so unlike the pure white of Angeal’s that he had so hated (and yet the feathers had been so beautiful, even as he died), for it had been yet another reminder of the perfection of his honorable friend, and his own lack.

the main idea I have is this:

post canon, strifesodos is an established thing. genesis and cloud have somehow managed to work things out, and they’re quite happy together, genesis alternately helping out strife delivery service and finding other things to do around edge. ags and zakkura never quite happened before everything went to shit, but the two of them are both aware of the other’s feelings in that regard.

then, all these feelings and many more are brought up again by a very much not dead sephiroth, angeal, and zack appearing in the ruins of midgar. sephiroth and angeal don’t appear to remember anything after the point where genesis started to degrade, and zack only remembers up to before nibelheim.

no one is really sure what to do with the three of them, especially sephiroth, but genesis and cloud get put in charge, by virtue of probably being able to kill him if things go wrong again.

cloud can barely stand to be in the same room as sephiroth, genesis alternates between desperately avoiding and staring longingly after angeal, and the three newly alive soldiers are Very Confused about everything they are clearly not being told.

including, notably, the fact that cloud and genesis are clearly together. (zack wails about genesis stealing the innocence of his cloud, until cloud gets embarrassed and smacks him on the head)

no one is jealous of the two of them no not at all.

- series of moments of genesis between the training room incident and leaving shinra, his body and mind starting to fall apart

- genesis time travel au: post canon genesis gets dumped in the past, circa wutai war. he picks up vincent and causes so much trouble while teen ags run around chasing him. tone is a mix of genesis angsting about fixing the past and then also shenanigans in dealing with teen ags (young genesis thinks this mysterious guy is the coolest thing ever). somehow I think this is turning into genesis/vincent.
