Hojo had access to a huge source of mako in reactor 0 that he was dumping tons of non-Jenova-infected people into in order to create a huge amount of pure lifestream he could absorb and become Omega
Then:
Absorbing a huge amount of pure lifestream allows the absorber to manifest as the godlike, planet-killing Omega
And:
Sephiroth's entire quest was also to become Omega
And if:
Genesis = the biblical beginning of everything
And:
The line from Revelation is "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End"
Then:
Alpha = First (born) = Beginning
Omega = Last (born) = End
So:
Genesis and Sephiroth are the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End

Genesis, trying to get Jenova cells and stop his degradation: *steps out from behind a corner wearing a sparkly red dress and waves a li'l white handkerchief* "Yooooo-hoo! Sephiroth!"
Sephiroth: *hurries over while clearly bewildered* "Yes?"
