Genesis and Sephiroth hadn't spoken in two months.

Two months in which they met constantly: in the barracks of an old stronghold, during long war-meetings in MIdgar and even for the whole 2-week siege of western Da-chao. It seemed the Goddess had a way to punish two lovers for their stubbornness.

"People think you're so different… fire and ice. They ask me in interviews: 'Tell me, Angeal, how is it to work with two individuals who are so different? Sephiroth, a cold and imposing General known for being shy and withdrawn, and Genesis Rhapsodos, a fiery, outspoken, heart-of-the-party type.'" Angeal let out a heavy breath. "You know what I want to answer?"

"No… but I'm sure you'll tell me anyway," Genesis replied, feigning disinterest.

"That you're not so different at all. You're both stubborn idiots. In fact, you're so alike sometimes it's like I'm the only adult watching two whiny kids."

Sephiroth wanted the black materia to wound the planet, gathering pure lifestream at the source of the wound that he could absorb and become a god

Hojo had access to a huge source of mako in reactor 0 that he was dumping tons of non-Jenova-infected people into in order to create a huge amount of pure lifestream he could absorb and become Omega

Then:

Absorbing a huge amount of pure lifestream allows the absorber to manifest as the godlike, planet-killing Omega

And:

Sephiroth's entire quest was also to become Omega

And if:

Genesis = the biblical beginning of everything

And:

The line from Revelation is "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End"

Then:

Alpha = First (born) = Beginning

Omega = Last (born) = End

So:

Genesis and Sephiroth are the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End

Vincent, nervously: "...Yes?"
