Hunger was all a vampire knew. It was blood that sustained them and kept them functioning. Their mental welfare was an altogether other state of being in itself however. All the blood in the world couldn't cure a Malkavian from their inner demons that whispered this and that, driving them into darkened delirium. It was in that madness that allowed carnage to rise. There may have been slaughter from time to time, and as enjoyable as that was for most, Ruby didn't care much for dirtying her hands with unnecessary massacre. Unless they really deserved it.
With each passing day, Ruby felt herself withering away like a grape left out in the sun to dry. She couldn't even face the day without burning up against the harsh light due to not being able to feed. Each time she thought to heal herself of whatever lurked in her system, she only ended up hurting herself more. There was some kind of sickness in Emerald Cove that no one could explain and everyone was infected other than the witches and humans. In all her time on Earth, she had yet to come across something so aggressive and dangerous to Loreans. To her own misfortune, Ruby had cornered herself to a place where asking for help would easily go unnoticed. She had been a plague in her own right to everyone here and caused nothing but annoyance and mayhem. Naturally, she could not blame them for ignoring her pleas.

She shook her head in defiance to what was provoking her and she quickly curled fingers to her temples, urging mind's silence as she shook in the darkness of her home, shielded from light and society and burdened by her own being. She had to wait until dusk to be free of unseen chains, venture outside and do what was necessary. But for now, all she could do was weep with muffled sobs, hoping for sleep to make her forget how much she ached and regressed into nothingness.

The girl could definitely hold a grudge, but that was to be expected. Ruby was and had never been a good Samaritan. Not by a long shot. She took what she wanted and killed whom she pleased. She didn't expect anything from Carson other than pity and maybe even devious cackling to her deteriorating state, blessing the Heaven's above that she would be rid of her once and for all. But that was not at all what happened. Ruby flinched briefly at the sudden touch of Carson's hand on her head, soothing whatever ailed her with some kind of unspoken incantation that knew what to do with such a simple gesture. She still felt weak only because of her lack of feeding, but it wasn't as distressful as before where the thought of blood only made her recoil in understanding what it did to her. Ruby glanced up, expression riddled in confusion at her generosity after having announced her obvious distaste of her. Gradually finding the strength to sit up, she spoke out with a low muttering of words in gratitude]
