continuing my project I changed the setting a bit to add points of interest. The one thing I was having trouble with is the gameplay. I knew I wanted to have the player walk around the town, how would I drive him to do it? I needed Motive.
What I ultimately decided is to have a scavenger hunt gameplay, the player gets a clue to a checkpoint, and when he reaches the location he gets a clue to the next one.Ā Ā
so first, I modeled more elements to the town to help with the check pints, such as adding numbers to the buildings, changing the sizes and colors of a house or a tree, and adding mailboxes.Ā
after that I decided on a course - I wanted to cover as much of the town, so I put some distance between each checkpoint and strategized the order. next i wanted to add some level of interest in each checkpoint, so had different ways of finding the hint each timeĀ
by the first checkpoint it is very simple, once yo get there you see it
in the second one it is underĀ the plant, so you need to push itĀ
last, the checkpoint is hidden insideĀ the mailbox, so you need to open it.Ā
