Hello, emails. I know we usually talk to you very formal very serious whenever you hear from us, but I need to break kayfabe for this post and just talk normally this time, so we're going to talk casual-style for today, ok? Thanks ^^
As of today, 3 years since RRY2K started! Absolutely crazy. I can't really call it an anniversary because you haven't heard from us much within the last year, but a birthday all the same! We're going to do something nice for it, but you have to give me a second to get through this post first and answer a few questions.
Long time no see, where have we been?
Since Summer of 2025 I've been working with the team to try and give this project another go with a fresh set of paint, better planning, and a lot more comfortable of a space to work in than our first attempt writing for the blog. It was something some of us were really excited for, and hoping we could revive the project with a little hope, trust, pixie dust, elbow grease, whatever it took!
Though, in the end we've come to realise that the weight from our first attempt is just something we couldn't shake, couldn't separate from the concept itself, and due to that and other internal issues that have arose since we've decided it's in the best interest for our own mental health and remaining love for the characters we each have to lay RRY2K as a story of its own into its peaceful rest like we should've back in 2024 before our First anniversary celebration.
That's not to say the characters themselves won't persist, but they'll each be in the hands of their own individual writers to give them each their own story to be everything they didn't get the chance to be on the blog, and to tell those individual characters' journeys in their own ways or make brand new ones for them. Each of the characters from RRY2K was incredibly personal to their writer, and I want everyone to get to keep their characters close to them and make something new that they're really proud of.
That being said, despite the project now being what I suppose could be considered abandoned I don't want to see Anyone trying to remake, recreate, reclaim, or revive RRY2K as a whole, a concept, or its cast of characters, whether they be a member of the audience or a member of our own team. I consulted everyone I could, and we really do all want this project to just rest as it is, and have that behind us all. It was an incredibly personal thing to us, and isn't one that anyone should be attempting to recreate outside of the characters they themselves wrote for the project.
That might sound a little scary, but I have to say it because someone has told me someone may have already been attempting this in some form, so we have the boundary now in plain text, ok? No hate to any of you emails, rest assured. I'm just looking out for myself and my team.
There's a lot of other things I could say about RRY2K, but to throw it all in one post would be overwhelming to say the least haha. But I do have the ask box open just in case. I won't guarantee answers, but if you had a question that I have something worthwhile to say about, then I'll do my best (:
For now, what's in store for the big occasion today?
Well, three years is a lot of time for a lot of art that you all haven't gotten to see before. As the person within the team who's probably made the most art for the blog over the years I thought it'd be nice to share with you all some of the stuff I've drawn since the project was first announced. Because my most notable character was a "spoiler" I wasn't allowed to post most of my art publicly before or talk about him, so there is a LOT of it. Let's change that today, yeah? He's been under lock and key for three years, and I think it's about time I showed our Internal Clock off (:
If you'll give me a few minutes I'm going to share as much art as I can fit within a post, and see if we hit the limit haha. One moment (:
