When Jaime had been younger, he had thought that his future would always include Cersei by his side. That he would be happy with her, like he had always wanted to be.

But Cersei didn't bring him happiness.. not really.

Jaime thought what he felt when he was with her was pure bliss, but the reality was a lot more twisted. Something that he couldn't see for quite some time, but now that he knew what real bliss looked and felt like.. looking back on his past made him see just how messed up it had been.

“FATHER LOOK!” his daughter's screams made him blink a couple of times to get out of his trance, a smile immediately spreading on his lips when he saw the flower crown that dangled on her index finger.

“Did you make that?”

“All on my own,” she proudly said, then approached him and got up on her tiptoes to put it on top of Jaime's head. And once it was on, he instantly lifted her up and sat her on his lap.

“How do I look then?”

“The prettiest,” she giggled and cuddled into his chest.

And all that Jaime could do was wrap his arms tighter around his little girl and prop his chin up on her head after having given it a kiss. The sun was shining directly in his face, the cool breeze making him close his eyes and just take a deep breath, and once again, he realized how far he'd come.. and how happy he's become.

He only opened his eyes again when he could hear his son's excited screams.

You were balancing him on your hip as you approached Jaime and your daughter, but your eyes were on the little boy as you were apparently telling him a story that made him laugh out loud again and again.

And it was like Jaime was seeing you for the first time all over again, with the additional thought of: “How is it possible that this is my wife? My family? My life?”

Jaime didn't think he deserved a happy ending for the longest of time.

But you did.

And so you gave it to him, willingly and happily.

You became his wife because you saw the man that he truly was, you decided that you want him to be the father of your children, because you knew that he'd be the best father possible for them.

And you were right.

Of course you were.

Jaime grinned when your eyes finally landed on him and your own face broke out into a smile.

He got his happy ending.

Youhad decided to spend the day in Diagon Alley with your best friend,both of you not really looking for anything in particular, but justwanting to spend a nice day before school would start again.

Youalready got all your necessities for this year, as well as yourbooks, so this day was purely for fun.

“Okay,what are your resolutions for this year?”

“Hmm,”you took a sip from your drink and narrowed your eyes, trying tothink of something that you wanted to achieve this year,“Proooobably.. getting better at potions. Because if I get any worse, Ithink Snape might start a petition to throw me out.”

Bothof you giggled at that, your friend agreeing wholeheartedly, sinceshe was in the same boat as you.

“Forme.. it’s finding a boyfriend.”

“Ofcourse it is,” you shook your head with a smile, “Why is it soimportant to you anyways? You should enjoy yourself while you’recan.”

“Easyfor you to say,” she snorted, “You’re already in a relationship..and I don’t even know who with! I’m your best friend and you won’ttell me who it is.”

“Trustme.. if I could, I would, but it’s better this way.”

“Howso? Explain it to me, maybe I’ll understand..-”

“Well,it’s just that..-”

Butthe second you wanted to start, was the second that the person youcouldn’t talk about approached you. Unfortunately for you, he wasn’talone, since his mother and father were with him. The two reasons why you could never let anybody know..

“Draco..aren’t these your classmates?”

Youcould see the worry in Draco’s eyes, could see how he tried to tellyou to leave, but you just smiled at them. Maybe today was finally the day you could convince them you weren’t half as bad as they might think, just because of your blood status.

“HelloSir. I’m (Y/N) (Y/L/N) and this is (Y/B/F) (Y/B/F/L/N).”

“You’re both mudbloods aren’t you?”

Ofcourse. It’s like he could smell that you were and didn’t care about anything but.

“Weare indeed,” your best friend crossed her arms in front of herchest and smiled sweetly, “But actually, your son is quite nice to us. So you musthave raised him well,” she said that to her mother who smiled, butthat faded as soon as Lucius turned around and gave her a death glare.

“Isthat true, Draco? You’re friends with mudbloods?”

No.He wasn’t friends with them, he was in a relationship with one ofthem and had been for the past year. He told you he loved you once aday and he told you that he wanted to run away with you at least oncea week. You were there when his father made him upset once again andyou held him when the nightmares came. 

You were everything to him.

Andhe should have had the courage to admit that, instead of saying: “No.I don’t even really know them.”

“Butthis one,” he pointed at you, “You look like you’re quitefamiliar with my son..”

“I..-”

“Itold you, father. I do not know who that is and I wouldn’t talk tomudbloods anyways. You and I both know that they’re filthy.”

“Excuseme?!” your best friend was ready to square up and punch himstraight in the face, if you hadn’t held her back.

“Don’t.Let’s just leave.. I don’t think my boyfriend will come to the rescuethis time..”

Dracolowered his head in shame and waited until his father turned aroundto look at him before looking back up.

“I’mproud of you, son.”

Yeah.

Buthe hated himself now.

And you probably did too, which was even worse.

Youhad been avoiding him for the past week and it was only on your wayto class that he finally got a hold of you and grabbed your wrist tostop you from walking away.

“Ijust want to talk..”

“ButI don’t want to talk to you, Draco!” you forcefully pulled yourwrist away, “You promised to never hold me being a mudblood againstme. You promised me!”

“Whatwas I supposed to say?”

“Youwere supposed to tell them the truth! Or at least supposed to protectme, like you always promised that you would!” tears were beginningto form in your eyes but you forced yourself not to let them escape,“You’re a liar, Draco Malfoy! A liar!”

“Don’tyou see that that’s exactly what I did? I did protect you! If I hadtold them the truth, do you think my father would have just acceptedit? Do you think him scolding me would be the worst to happen? Thesecond he finds out about us, is the second he’s going to try to getrid of you. And I’m not talking about throwing you out of the school,I’m talking about killing you, (Y/N),” he cupped your face, histhumbs gently brushing the tears away, suddenly very thankful thatnobody else was around and he could be the man you deserved to bewith right now, “I can’t lose you.. ever. But especially notbecause of me. Because you’re with me.. I would never forgive myselffor it.”

You obviously knew that he was right. But still, hearing him say these terrible things, fake or not, it just.. it broke a part of you.. and you were afraid that if he kept it up, there would be a day where piecing it all together just wouldn’t work anymore.

“Idon’t want to hide anymore.. I just want to be with you..”

Afteryour last failed attempt at a relationship and your betrothed ranaway with another woman (not that you really loved him, since it hadbeen an arranged marriage, but you were still left looking like a completeidiot), you would think that you knew better than to think not all of them are the same.

You’d think that you knew thatall men were pigs and that you couldn’t trust any of them.

Buthere you were, giggling mess at what Jaime Lannister had just said,obviously flirting with you and trying to win you over.

Therational, still functioning part of your brain, wanted to shove himaway and go. The other part, that longed for someone who loved you,wanted to pull him towards you and kiss him.

Itwas basically like this: the angel on your shoulder telling you togive him a chance, the devil on your shoulder telling you he’s likeall the others and was only going to hurt you.

Butas much as you tried to balance it out, you knew the angel waswinning.

Youknew the more he was smiling at you, the more you fell, deeper anddeeper and you knew you wouldn’t get out of this hole anymore.

Butyou wouldn’t admit it. Not yet.

Noteven when your best friend approached you once Jaime was gone, with ahuge ass grin on her face.

“Don’tsay it,” you warned.

“Icould see you swooning from way over there. Just admit it.”

“No,”you crossed your arms and turned around, but she wouldn’t budge andran after you.

“Comeoooon,” she giggled and hooked her arm with yours, “Say it.”

“No,I won’t say I’m in love, because this is not a fairy tale.”

Your best friend shrugged, “Whether or not it’s afairy tale, you’re in love and you won’t be able to hide it for muchlonger.”

Youwere quiet for a little while, both of you strolling through thegardens, before you silently said: “He’s just going to hurt me(Y/B/F). He’s like the rest of them..”

“Youwon’t know until you know, (Y/N).”

“Thankyou for your wise words,” you snorted, but smiled anyways

Shewas right, though.

Therewas only one way to find out whether or not he was like the rest ofthem.

“Therehe is,” she smiled and looked over to you, “Go to him..”

Theway he was looking at you, with so much love and adoration.. like youwere the sun itself, radiating beauty and kindness.

Hewanted to be with you.
