Health update/rant below, feel free to keep scrolling. I just need to talk into the void where a few kind shoulders and ears might be lended.

I got some vague diagnosis this past week of "vestibular weakness". Which does and does not answer my vertigo problems. She didn't even really elaborate. She just how's, " yea you don't have Meniere's but you have vestibular *jargon jargon* weakness." I asked, "what does that mean?" She goes, "you know the Spinny chair test you had?" "Yea." "They saw some weakness in your eye movements." And I could tell she didn't want to be on the phone any longer so I just didn't ask anything else.

So, I'm supposed to go to physical therapy. I haven't gone yet, but my first appt is kind of far.

Today is a flare up day and a bad one. I'm super nauseous and dizzy. I look up vestibular weakness online and since I don't really know what that really means or what kind of diagnosis that is, I kinda started to doubt if I did actually have it.

I found a video of a physical therapist offering some exercises at home for VW and I thought I'd give them a try, since I'm not feeling good at all.

Bruh.

Tell me why it is so hard for me to move my eyes up and down, left to right, and to turn my head to the side. I think I might have vestibular weakness after all. All 20 of his exercises I couldn't even get through 3 reps. What does this mean???

I have an MRI this Tuesday. Since it isn't Meniere's I'm not sure what else it could be. I wish I knew more so I could advocate for myself better.

I started my day today with the mantra "at least 5". I'm going to write at least 5 words today for my book. I'm going to add at least 5 stitches into my crochet project. I'm going to take at least a 5 min shower. I'll read at least 5 paragraphs of the book I want to finish. All of this to either feel accomplished at least doing something to further along my projects, or trick myself into starting it and then making way more progress than i planned to.

It started great! I wrote 5 words and then more, and then enough to get a few paragraphs going. Awesome!

And then my chronic fatigue hit and so i was like, "well, in bed ill read at least 5 paragraphs." Awesome, i did, and then i read more, and then i finished the book!"

But now...

I'm dead tired, its not even 10 AM, my fatigue is telling me to nap, but i absolutely need to shower today cus ive got to go get an MRI later. And my crochet project absolutely needs to be worked on even if it is only 5 stitches a day or else itll never get done. Baaaaaaah

There was this whole thing I stumbled across where it seemed like many people didn’t want to write female whumpees because female whumpees are usually put in sexual assault whump stories. But those can be written about men too, and I feel that’s just continuing to sexualise women by automatically equating them with that. Women’s existence in a story does not equal the presence of stories about sex/sexual violence. You can write stories about female whumpees and women in general without it being at all relating to sexual assault (or even anything sexual at all). Not sure if this is still a big thing in the community but I wanted to put my 2 cents in.

Rant about gender stuff aside, all this is to say that we DO need more female whumpees.

I completely agree with you. I stay away from lady whump because it mostly is just people putting women in non-con scenarios and that's not for me. It's like the majority and it's really sad. The few times I'm reminded of how cool lady whump can be is in movies like American Ultra, Ready or Not, or The Old Guard.

Noncon whump is fine if that's your thing, it's not mine for women. But I'm just tired of that being the majority default lady whump.

Also also.. I don't know if this is going to make sense or not so bear with me... But do y'all remember the really popular trend in the early 2010's of putting lesbians in movies but it was absolutely NOT meant for the gays? It was always meant for the male gaze. It was always just two hot, stereotypical blonde women making out and men getting hot over it in the film. They were props. It always made me uncomfortable because, even though I am a wlw, it never felt meant for me. It felt perverse and offensive. Thats how I view a lot of lady whump (in visual media). It makes me uncomfortable for some reason i can't put into words, but the feeling is similar.

Idk maybe im insane.

Hey idk if anyone cares but the does the dog die for Obsession is slightly inaccurate, someone keeps saying that one of the kills is “campy” and “80s horror looking”. It is not. It is very graphic and upsetting. Idk what cut of the movie they watched but it is a very gory moment

Just a little input from fan of 80s horror camp and a fan of gore. While I agree that the kill is kind of campy looking because of the way the victim is obviously a puppet/not real, it is still very, very gorey. The kill certainly deserves a warning on doesthedogdie for anyone who may be sensitive to that kind of content.
