one of the saddest things is when someone in your family tells you you would've loved someone who died before you were born. like my mother has told me & my best friend that we would have loved talking to her father. that me & my brothers have the same humor as our late uncle & even look like him. everyone is everywhere & nowhere & here & gone & dying & coming back. it's as though you know them through their shadow or their ghost or your own actions, but you won't ever really know. haunts me, i guess

The way George didn’t want to get married because he believed his madness made him unworthy and unsafe of love and family. The way he tells Charlotte he didn’t want to get married at all. But then he fell in love with her the moment they met and spoke and knew he really had no choice because he had to secure the royal line. Once he'd done that he chose to hide himself away from her because he believed he was keeping her safe. That it’s better for them to be apart because he believes he is a beast. Not only that but because he loves her so desperately he is willing to subject himself to literal torture in the hopes it will make him better and so that he can be worthy of her (in his mind) This then juxtaposed with Charlotte literally going no. No you will not hide yourself away from me because I love you. I love you enough that nothing else matters. She realizes all the walls he put up, all the secrets he kept, all the time he spent away from her was out of love and the desire to keep her safe and protected. She could easily have accepted that. But she didn't. She refused to let him fall on his own sword and instead drags him back to herself. She promises to love him unconditionally and SHE DOES SO. She promises she will stand between the heavens and the earth for him and she fucking does it for his entire life. That is another level of devotion that is so rarely shown in media. True unconditional love in the face of great loss and sorrow and hardship. Because let me tell you slowly losing someone you love so much is a torture all its own but she never abandoned him even when he'd mostly lost his memory of her.
