All the pretty shells. Reminiscing about Florida, 80 to 0 dgrs in 2 days #seaswag
This shirt was obtained at the Interface carpets booth at the Greenbuild Expo several years ago. Very inspiring to read about former CEO's leadership and transformation of the company for a grad school paper now.

The term disruption gets a lot of airtime in the innovation community. People use it to mean anything from: âthe government doesnât like thisâ to âan industry is dyingâ to âthis changes the way I...
I'm learning a lot about the shared or "collaborative" economy these days, and I'm liking what I see supported by progressive VC's like CollaborativeFund.com. The concept of disruptive innovation in food systems has especially intrigued me, such as the quote in this piece about the carbon impact of the cattle/beef industry in contrast to the transportation sector. As I move forward with my MBA in Sustainability capstone project, expect to hear more from me on this exciting topic.Â
Diet for a warming planet? The funny thing is photo was unintentional, hit click while getting another pic for my Evernotes, but guess this was meant to be!

Fall is hiding in the woods... As I am. Almost school time
Check out my blog post for Clean Air-Cool Planet as part of my Climate Fellow work there this summer!Â
On Tuesday, President Barack Obama made a historic announcement about a new climate action plan for the United States. His speech included many references about the interrelated and rapidly accruing repercussions of climate change, from sea level rise and flooding, and stronger storm patterns like Hurricane Sandy, to diminishing icecaps and snowpack, more frequent droughts and fires, higher temperatures, and scarcer clean drinking water. Such impacts challenge our infrastructure, food systems, public health, tourism, national security, real estate, and overall economic and social well-being. The prospect for a resilient and thriving future as well as present is at stake and Americaâs lauded land of opportunity will be limited if opportunities to adapt are not identified and progressed by leaders at all levels.
It was no mistake that President Obama made his stage an institution of higher education... [read more]
 My Climate Fellow Project Assignment:
A Quantitative Assessment of the State of Climate Leadership in Higher Education
Over the past decade, college and universities have often been at the forefront of action and leadership on the issue of climate change. They have convened teams of environmental advocates, adopted greenhouse gas reduction targets and climate action plans  built green buildings, installed and purchased renewable energy, and worked to support their local communities in  broader greening efforts. The proliferation of âgreenâ rankings and rating systems attests to the volume of action  on climate change (and more broadly, sustainability), but these rankings and ratings do not really illuminate the impact of all of this activity. With the launch of the new online Campus Carbon Calculator, a robust and growing repository of quantitative data will make it possible, for the first time, to compile a broad and illustrative snapshot of concrete, measurable outcomes from higher educationâs sustainability efforts. The result will be the first ever CAÂ-CP âState of the  Campus: Higher Edâ report, to be published in September, 2013.
Tasks: The Fellow will work with Clean Air-ÂCool Planet, CAÂ-CP partners Sightlines and Second Nature, and others, to analyze and interpret data from the new online database of the Campus Carbon Calculator, and to use that data to  create a report for broad distribution.
Identify and analyze trends and summarize overall sector progress
Identify variables that seem to have the most impact on progress (e.g. institution type or geography, adoption of specific policies or use of specific funding mechanisms, etc.)
Provide relevant benchmarks suggested by the data
Create easyÂ-toÂ-absorb, attractive infographics based on analyses
Draft report which synthesizes findingsÂ
ANYBODY CAN GRILL A FUCKING BURGER OR HOTDOG. Elevate your grilling game with something that simpleminded motherfuckers wouldnât even consider. Grilling veggies is some classy shit and it only takes a few minutes. I am not talking about some played out portabella burger that tastes like a dirty sponge. Eggplant, artichokes, okra, lettuce: all that shit can be thrown on the grill and are in peak form during the spring and summer. People are guaranteed to come correct next time you invite them over. Raise the fucking bar and grill to impress.
GRILLED ROMAINE HEARTS WITH AVOCADO LIME DRESSING 2 romaine hearts, washed, trimmed, and sliced in half 1 clove of garlic, chopped up all small 2 tablespoons olive oil a pinch of salt and pepper Avocado Lime Dressing 1 ripe avocado 1/3 cup fresh lime juice 2 tablespoons rice vinegar 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 clove garlic, chopped all small ½ teaspoon agave or honey 1/4 teaspoon cumin 1/4 cup water salt to taste For the dressing, put all the ingredients in a small food processor or blender and combine until creamy. Add the pinch of sea salt and mix it in. If that shit looks way too thick, add more water until it looks like salad dressing. Pour it all into a small container and refrigerate until the lettuce is ready. To grill the romaine hearts, heat the grill to a medium-low heat. As long as the grill isnât crazy hot, you are good. While the grill heats up, mix the garlic, olive oil and salt and pepper in a little cup. Brush or spoon the oil mixture to the cut side of the lettuce. This isnât the fucking dressing so go easy. Place the lettuce face down on the grill for 60 seconds or until there are clear grill marks and the leaves are beginning to wilt. Flip the hearts over and grill the other side for another 60 seconds. You want the leaves to look charred but not all fucking limp so pay attention. When they look good, put them on a plate and put some dressing over the hearts. Top with sliced green onions, chopped cilantro, and plenty of black pepper. Enough for 4 people with some extra dressing
We shared this recipe with our homies over at GQ Online, go check them out.
Yes! Healthy and fun summer grilling with greens.

Hello Spring!
From NOAA Visualizations:
A drop in the jet stream sent temperatures across the United States plummeting over the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday weekend. The pronounced change in temperatures can be seen in this weather data from NOAA/NCEPâs Real-Time Mesoscale Analysis.
Areas colored blue are below freezing. The diurnal cycle of heating and cooling can be seen over time, but the pattern is clear: much of the U.S. is pretty cold.
Cold streak is about to snap. Winter, it is overâŚ
Studies suggest that endocrine disruptors, chemicals found everywhere from couches to shampoos, plastic bottles, plastic lined food cans, farm applications, and clothing, may contribute to obesity along with TV and bad food choices. This columnist is right-on, and also intelligently explains why a journalist like himself would discuss public health instead of mainly politics for a change.
