"The curtains are fucking blue" mindset has eroded media literacy so much that people can't even recognize that the "curtains" in the meme are themselves a metaphor. It was never literally about curtains it was about seemingly minor and insignificant details. Their Lit teacher never gave a single shit about the color of fucking curtains. People just ignore the meme's nuance in favor of a more literal interpretation so they can pretend the fact that they did poorly in Lit wasn't their fault. How ironic, that the meme has fallen victim to the mindset it actively encourages.
