“I’ve never had step-parents, so I’m not one to relate to that. You’re not fond of him then?”

“Why bother pretending then?”

“I suppose so, yes.”

“If I can’t waste my own life, then what can I waste?”

“One of the worst.”

“Something about being wasteful? Is that your reasoning?”

“See? Don’t you feel a tad bit better about your abilities?”

“I think they’re nice people, I mean, as nice as late forty year old people can be. I’d imagine that’s their age.”

“Late forty-year old people are either really nice and bake cookies, are serial killers, or constantly curse this generation for being entitled.”

“By some definitions, teaching them is taking care of them.”

“Just don’t be a shut-in for the rest of your life. That’s the worst mistake you could make.”

“The worst one?”

“You have to set somewhat of an example. You’d think they would be.”

“I’ve not personally got one myself, but I do know one. Let’s just hope the blackmail doesn’t go too far.”

“Depends what type of person your neighbor is. Good you know a lawyer then.”

“You’re about to be severely blackmailed. Got any lawyers?”

“Yet you chose to be a teacher.”

Trent Lott did not dare Jamie to take you out. Close. Jamie likes you and he asked you out, because he likes you. Now, look up.

“Being a shut-in probably has a better pay off.”

“In some ways, some pretty sad ways, yeah. Never get out enough to try anything damaging.”

Ariel chewed her lips as she looked down. “Sexually Repulsed? For a long time I thought I was asexual. I don’t know if this makes sense at all, but if I didn’t have it in my life I’d be okay. Don’t get me wrong it feels amazing, I just don’t need it,” she muttered softly. “I know he is, I just like making him feel good, and honestly having new experiences with him, I’m so far from knowing what to do most of the time in anything and everything,” she stated wearily. “I know what he did for Rora, it’s why I’m so uncomfortable around Jazz,” she murmured. “I’m going to talk to him, I just don’t know how to tell him yet, I’ll figure it out eventually,” she looked to Rosie and nods slowly. “I don’t know, I didn’t think I’d still have issues but I still do I guess, not with anything Ryan does, just with how I feel about sex as a whole,” she murmured.

“Yeah. I don’t like the thought of it,” Rosie shrugged. “It makes sense,” she nodded. Rosie looked to the side. “I’m the wrong person to ask,” she said. She bit her lip as Ariel expressed her concerns about Jazz. “Jazz is an idiot. But he’s not bad. He’s very respectful. He just puts up a different face for everyone else to see,” Rosie explained slowly. “I’m uncomfortable around basically everyone, and yet I still like Jazz. So. I guess you could look at it that way.” She hugged her legs close to her chest. “He’ll be open ears.” 

“Just so mean– he’s good though, after I study he get’s what he want’s usually. It’s so hard sometimes, because I’m not really a– sexual person. I’ve never been the type to be into it, I much rather sit and watch movies or read, or cuddle. Ryan always brings something out in me that I never knew I had. I don’t know whether that scares me or not because I don’t want our relationship to be defined by it. I just don’t know how to talk to him about it, I talk to him about everything, but when it comes to that I just lock up. I have a lot of stuff that happened in the past that I’m scared to tell him about with that subject.”

Rosie nodded listening closely to Ariel’s words. “I get that. I’m the opposite of sexual person. More sex repulsed than anything,” she admitted slowly. “Ryan’s understanding though. Wes, Jazz, and I give him all sorts of shit for being the type that he is, but in reality, he’s pretty good about things. He beat Jazz up once because Jazz was slut-shaming Aurora. He’d never admit that that was the reason though. He doesn’t admit to caring about people that aren’t Wes or Kat. He pretends to hate even Jazz.” Rosie softened and her face wrinkled with concern. “I understand. Really I do. Work up to it. Definitely work up to it. He’ll understand. The last thing he wants is for your to be uncomfortable at all.” She took a deep breath before adding, “Experiences haunt us sometimes.”

“Unless you’ve been to rehab for a drinking problem, I am in no place to judge you.”

“My brother used to be. Not for drinking. Other stuff. I’ve never been. I’m mostly a shut-in.”
