“Sorry for ruining your cafe going experience,” Melody muttered, Moving back to look at her phone.

“Considering there are a few people around that keep shooting you annoyed glances, I can honestly say that I’m just speaking up for the masses.”

Her fingers thrummed against the table, softly humming the Pokemon theme song as she stared at her phone. 

“That’s really distracting,” Beckett muttered, glancing up from his book. “Not to mention highly annoying.”

“It’s called perseverance, dude. It’s possible to be bad at math and enjoy it at the same time. You’ve just got to work to get better at it. It’s not that difficult to understand.”

“You do know that there’s an actual disorder that some people have that make it impossible for them to do math, right? Or are you seriously that ignorant.”

“You don’t have to be good at math to like it, y’know.”

“Have you ever met a damn person that was bad at math who fucking enjoyed it? Are you joking me?”

“I don’t understand people who don’t like math.”

“Not everyone is good at math, dude.”

“My little brother, he’ll be a junior this year– so very proud of him.”

“I– Oh, crap what was I saying. Oh! Issac’s become a pro card player so it seems, finally beat me at Poker.”

“That seems exciting! And who is this Isaac person?”

“No– no I mean I was, talking to you, I wouldn’t think you were rude or anything.”

“Well in that case, will you please repeat what you said so I can give you my full attention?”

Blinked, looking back to him. “Sorry! I distracted you.”

“No, you didn’t distract me. I just didn’t want to be rude and seem like I was ignoring you if you were trying to talk to me.”

“Issac just beat me at poker for the first time. I don’t know whether to be proud or scared.”

Beck looked up, a guilty expression on his face. “Were you talking to me?”

I’m only here because of him, but it’s sure as hell better than Ohio.
