I always wanted to be somewhere else, I don’t know why.

Some people are born flight risks. It is no shortcoming of yours that they cannot keep their feet on the ground. It is not your fault that they cannot seem to stand in place. They are not leaving you; they are just leaving.

“I wasn’t so much complaining as dramatically whining.”Irene said with her eyes rolled at her older cousin.”Like a ton of posters and at least a trip to a department store to make it feel lived in.”

“Well then, stop dramatically whining. You should just be happy you got a room-- you know, I’ve heard horror stories about people who arrived and didn’t have a bed for weeks cause of overcrowding,” of course, she hadn’t really, but Rose wasn’t about to admit the lie to Irene. “Ok, a ton of posters. Cover the walls with them like wallpaper, and who needs paint? Not Irene Bjorgman,” she was a little exasperated, and it maybe showed in her tone of voice, but for the most part she was trying to be helpful, “D’you want me to go to home depot with you? We could schedule a visit for right after your luggage is all sorted.”

“Now I’m all for minimalist living but isn’t this a tad overkill.”Irene said,looking at the complexity bare room”I’ve seen hotel rooms with more personality.”

"Don't complain," Rose chastised, though one look around the dreary room had her feeling about the same, "All you need is some posters, a timetable-- maybe a plant. It'll be just like home in no time."

“What couldn’t be fun about it? Being able to manipulate the weather sounds like a wonderful power if you ask me. What issues do you have with it? Supreme leader Asteria? That would be an interesting alternative, I could have a castle made of computers, that would be the real dream. As tempting as that sounds, I think I’ll leave the leadership to people who set good examples and who are actually good at igniting faith in others. Um computer pixels. Unfortunately, quite alot of my images  and ideas of the world have been perceived through pixels, but that’s changing slowly but surely. I’m just going to have to hope it’s still out there when we can leave or after we escape. I mean, surely they could not have locked every window or door, we could always make our way to a different section and make an escape through that way. ‘He’s a pirate’? No unfortunately I haven’t, I will google it at the appropriate moment.”

“Yeah. It sounds wonderful, and in theory, sure-- but it’s not the easiest thing to keep in check. I can’t... turn it off, I guess. It’s why I have these,” she held up her hands, covered in their fingerless gloves, and made a face, “Helps. A castle of computers sounds amazing, actually. Could I be your loyal knight or something, since I gave you the supreme leader idea? Darn, ok. Maybe you could get into game design-- use all your images and ideas, but in a virtual world. Oh, true. I doubt they’d have had time yet, so we’ll just have to cross our fingers and hope. You’ve gotta! Anything can be achieved when he’s a pirate is playing in the background, honestly.”

“Suffocating confinement it is then. So you have weather manipulation in a way, put specifically rendered to winter? No I don’t mind at all, I have the power of data manipulation as well as technology manipulation; they aid each other in a way though I am still trying to come to an understanding of the later. Yes pixels…as in on a computer screen? An image on the computer is made from pixels. Exactly, I think we’d be lucky to find one, the spoons might in fact be the fastest option of escape, unless we try our luck climbing through air vents, similarly to many adventure films. Either way we can play a motivational score to aid in our journey to freedom.”

“That’s about right, yep. I get all the joy of Winter, except all year ‘round. It’s not as fun as you might think. Oh-- tech manipulation, that sounds so cool. Considering how tech based our entire world is at this point... you could probably take over someday, supreme leader Asteria. Right, of course, computer pixels. Without knowing your powers, that was almost confusing, but knowing what you can do makes it a lot more understandable. Huh, I never thought about the air vents. I wonder would it work... or if it’d even be possible to get anywhere through them. Have you ever heard ‘he’s a pirate’? That’s the exact kind of music we’d need to get us through it.”
