TW: Mentions of incest, zoophilia/beastiality, adult x minor, and other problematic media.
So let me get this straight. I was taught by Tiktok that proshipping, or problematic shipping, is bad and disgusting because "you shouldn't ship/romantize/fetishize minor Γ adult, beastially, etc." That proshippers are terrible people and deserve to get off the internet and into jail.
And then there's Tumblr, who's full of proshippers and people who support proshipping.
Does the law not care about what fiction we write? Why is one website against proshipping but another is for it? I decided I'm still anti, and I'll explain why.
"We seperate fiction from reality!" Yes, but have you consider what the fiction saids about YOU? If you're not careful, people will see you as an awful human being. If you are purposely romantizing, glorifying, and/or fetishizing things like abuse, incest, pedophilia, zoophilia, and even RAPE, of course people won't like you for it, especially those with truamas of those topics. You gotta be VERY careful with these kind of topics, you hear me.
Now, I do know there are different reasons for being a proshipping. If you're doing it out of truama, I understand. I'd still suggest healthier coping mechanisms, but I understand. If you do it because you're legitimately a incest supporter, pedophile, zoophilie, etc, then I can't really forgive it. If you write these dark topics for awareness or for specific plot reasons, I can let it slide, especially if you do a good job at doing so.
For example, I had a best friend who forced me to write whatever she wanted for our fanfiction series. There are things that one would consider problematic or simply uncomfortable, such as:
Horrible depiction of DID, TWICE (And my friend wanted more DID)
Horrible depiction of OCD that only appeared in one episode, I'm not kidding.
Yandere and murder in a "kid-friendly" fanfiction series, the yandere in which was a DID alter.
Semi-detailed pregnancy, twice.
A human (Akira Kenjou from Kirakira Precure A La Mode) x a talking hamster fairy with a human form (Harriham Harry from Hugtto Precure). I had friends tell me this is zoophilia.
I panicked about my reputation and still do to this day, especially the DID and the human x hamster. I didn't want to write these topics, but my best friend did.
Another time I met a DeviantART user who wrote erotic fanfiction of Pikwikpack, some of which had rape. They complained that pregnancy art, vore art, and inflation art of Pikwikpak was pedophilia, which was ironic to say the least.
TLDR: I'm still anti proshipping. Ships and fiction can say a lot about someone, you gotta be careful with your problematic fiction. I can never be a proshipper because I very much fear for my reputation.
