　もはや亜熱帯と言ってもいいのに、今年もまた、サラリーマンは背広を着せられ、結果、会社では冷房をガンガンに入れ、女子社員は冷え性に苦しみ、エアコンの排気熱で都会はさらに灼熱の亜熱帯になり、そんな炎天下で生徒の体調はまったく無視した高校野球がおこなわれ、試合終了と共に脱水症状で担ぎ込まれる選手が日本各地で続出し、しかし球児の健全な生育と行動を求める高野連は何人倒れようとスケジュール通りに試合を進行し、日本人は必死に仕事を続けるのです。　あたしゃ、この連載が始まった20年近く前から、「夏にバカンス。大型バカンス。最低でも二週間のバカンスが普通になる国、日本！」と言い続けているのですが（二週間は、ものすごく妥協してます。ヨーロッパだと一か月、四週間が平均ですからね）、日本が変わるまで言い続けるぞと言っているんですが、あんまり変わらないのでくじけそうになっていますが、負けるもんか。こういうのは、言い続けないとダメなんです。あきらめたら、そこで試合終了なんです。はい。でもつらいです。
