More skitty! Skitty is not speaking in all caps because it is inconvenienced by the Joltik in its food.
May or may not finish.
most tragic thing about wanting to see more stuff of your oc is that the c is o and YOU have to make the stuff. devastating. why canβt art of my beautiful baby just appear in my hands. just materialize under my pillow, like from the tooth fairy

"I learned a lot from making this" is artist talk for "making this sucked ass and I'm not entirely happy with the result."

Hello!! Question for you: do you have any tips on studying art? Specifically the way you color or tips on perspective? I think your art is so lovely and I hope youβre having a good day!
this is how I learned to color! I originally did this with breath of the wild screenshots but i eventually started to branch out to other random photographs and stuff as well. It's really just a matter of re-training the way your brain thinks about color, to get it to stop instantly going "grass is green" and instead getting it to think "what color would this grass look like based on the lighting in this setting, and how would that affect the mood of the scene as a whole?" this exercise trains you to get comfortable putting colors in unconventional places, and forces you to experiment with how different colors look and feel when their relative positions in a scene are changed. if you're interested, I recorded myself doing this for this tutorial--the complete uncut footage is here. it's about 50 minutes long in real-time and deeply deeply annoying to watch because i keep switching colors around when I realize they don't look the way i expect them to, which is of course the point of the exercise.
as for perspective, I unfortunately. genuinely don't know. I used to be literal ass at it and then one day it just kind of clicked. it could have been any of the millions of perspective exercises they made us do in art school but it could also have just been the sheer amount of real-life interiors i was drawing in art school. I think all you can really do is use grids and practice sketching real interiors, but it's also worth noting that it's more important for something to FEEL right rather than to BE right--plenty of my art isn't strictly correct in terms of perspective, but it FEELS like it is and that's all that matters. it's okay to move things a little off-grid if it helps the vibe of the piece as a whole. try not to get so caught up in the mathematics of it all that you forget you're making art!
