Just for fun

Joel is staring at him, bemused.

"You know watermelons can be bought all year round, right?" And they also sell them cut in neat cubes, eating which is not as messy as whatever Olli made of the kitchen counter.

"It's not the same, now is the season," protests Olli and takes another bite, and another. Juice runs down his chin, pink pulp frames his mouth like a matte lipstick, and this is... quite a look if Joel can say.

"If it's as tasty as you make it sound, I must try some too," decides Joel. Maybe he doesn't mind messy after all.

"Great! That piece must be–" Olli picks a bright-red one but falls silent as Joel's face suddenly appears too close to his own.

It's a wonderful August evening, warm and still light, perfect for a nice dinner out. Aleksi heard somewhere about this place, which has a few tables on a small balcony, an extensive wine list and menu with only three grilled dishes you have to queue for barbecue to get. Olli finds it a bit strange but quite lovely, the place providing enough privacy and a pleasant atmosphere.

"What are you doing?" he asks as he sits on his chair. Aleksi immediately turns to him with a conspiratorial smile, like he wants to share something exciting. He shoves his glass into Olli's arm and gently pushes to the side.

"Look how beautiful!"

And– Oh, Olli can see it. The string lights the balcony is decorated with are reflected in the wine and glare on the glass surface, making it to look like some magical frame.

"Isn't it marvelous?" asks Aleksi, and when Olli turnes his head to answer he's struck for a moment. Aleksi's eyes are glowing, both with delight and the lights shining on his blue irises. Olli can't look away.

"Yes, it is."

Joonas sighed and rolled his eyes.

"God, don't be so dramatic. It's just some lemon juice, you'll be alright."

Still grumbling, Joel turned off the tap and reached for the towel. He had such a miserable look, one eye shut and expression pained, that Joonas relented.

"Let me help you, " he said taking the towel.

Joonas carefully tapped at Joel's eye to blot the water. "Here," he blew at the eyelid, then left a weightless kiss on it, "try to open."

Joel blinked a few times at high speed, hissing, before he managed to focus his eyes.

"That fucking stings!"

He frowned, the redden eye made him look even angrier. Or more ridiculous, Joonas wasn't sure, but he stiffled a giggle. He had to soothe his boyfriend somehow.

"Listen, I haven't thought making homemade lemonade can be so traumatizing," said Joonas with a conciliatory smile and rubbed Joel's shoulder. "How about I'll deal with lemons, and you will tear the mint? And then we'll watch a movie of your choice."

"Even 'Venom'?" asked Joel suspiciously.

He should have expected this. Well, Joonas can always turn it into making out, right?
