This has been my main argument against "AI" from the very beginning.

OpenAI scraped the entire web. All of which had been a labor of love from humans. Wikipedia is the backbone of a lot of LLMs, and that was volunteer human labor. They stole it and now they're selling it back to us.

And worse, they're trying to destroy the free sources that they stole from. It's destruction of human knowledge on an unprecedented scale. The burning of the library of Alexandria has nothing on this.

Stop saying "chatGPT" when you mean "Sam Altman and his corporate cronies." Stop saying "AI" when you mean "speculative investor backed environmental destruction".

You CANNOT keep letting these fuckheads scapegoat a computer and absolve themselves of all blame.

The fucking large language models are computer programs. They are not people, and they are certainly not decision makers.

Saw the most dystopian shit on the Norwegian news today.

They talked about the heatwave in Europe and how it would be hotter than the heatwave in 2017...

Meanwhile, on the little text box at the bottom of the screen (that would show various news events from across the globe) it was spelled out in Norwegian that

" 'OPEN AI' IS LAUNCHING A NEW AND MORE POWERFUL AI ON THURSDAY."

....

Like how could the news anchorwoman be so casual about it all?? Where do y'all THINK this heatwave is coming from???

#I wanted to scream to the TV that they shouldn't let Open AI just keep on doing this but I wasn't alone in the house...#It was like a freakin joke! Like a big middle finger to us all! “yeah the heatwave tihi we are now going to make it even WORSE! tihi!”

The same in Norwegian (or at least in some dialects) "Fjernsyn" ("distant-sight") I believe we took it from the Germans, like we have done with half of our language and the other half from English (and a couple of dialect word from Swedish)
