I have thoughts about the sirens name sharing thing but I saved my original post as a draft because I didn't like how other people were discussing it. Frankly, a lot of posts I've seen about this topic come across as racist and I am not in the business of tactlessly adding in my two cents when people are using this as an excuse to be racist.

I'll share my thoughts when I think I have a well constructed post that addresses both my opinion and the reactions people have been having. In the mean time I think a lot of people here and on other social media platforms should examine how and what they are saying about this specific instance but also how womens sports are talked about differently when it comes to sports predominately featuring Black women vs sports predominately featuring white women

one of the first hockey edits i ever made was one of her and sid about their international play experience to good riddance (time of your life) and the only other times i have edited her is when i have edited her with stace. ohhhhhhh we do not give her enough credit in this country. her impact on both the international level as well as in the pwhl/cwhl/phf etc will never be felt again. i fear we are slightly soft launching her r*t*r*ment with this surgery and very few things will hurt as much as the day there is no marie-philip poulin playing professional hockey anymore.

Apparently it is really easy to get me to buy into ANY sport as long as the league is mostly women OR the few women in the league dominate.
