It’s so hard to forget pain, but it’s even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace.

Worth noting: She told the dude several times before, politely, that she wasn’t interested and he wouldn’t take no for an answer and kept following and pestering her. After turning him down multiple times, she finally said she was gay, and he snapped and started attacking her. He climbed on her windshield, kicked it in and shattered it, causing glass to get in her eyes.

in psych classes you’re taught about bystander syndrome (nobody helps because they all expect someone else to help) using the case of kitty genovese, who was screaming for help while being stabbed. the story has since come under fire from a lot of people for being largely inaccurate but the thing nobody mentions, even in the modern corrected versions of the story, is that genovese was openly gay and living with her girlfriend, and that almost definitely had an effect on how people reacted
