Toronto at Night - set 11
As I explore the nighttime streets of Toronto I walk past a corner where the homelessness and/or drug addicted congregate. I see them all crowded into a small bus stop shelter and surrounding it, all smoking glass pipes, or something brown from a piece of foil. I see others nearby laying on the grass with belts or straps round their arms and needles sticking out of their arms. A drug addict young lady walks up to me and says "Hey, you wanna play with my little mushroom?". She shows me a little glass pipe with a little mushroom charm dangling off of the pipe. I'm a little confused on how to reply so I say "Oh that's a cool pipe. It's got a little mushroom on it. Errrmmmm yeah, cool", and she's like "Yeah you wanna play with it?". A guy on an electric scooter rides up to her and they begin talking about something. Looks like she was expecting him. He was probably the local dealer. I turn around and walk up to the crossroads to cross fhe street and walk away, I press the signal button, and I see a fitting strange little poster on the post of a man being tormented by a demon. Just the name 'Jesus' remains on top of the ripped up poster. I wonder what it said before. Probably something along the lines of: " Don't fall prey to demons. Turn to Jesus."
Millions of people all over the world, especially in Canada, have fallen pray to the demons of drug addiction. Their life force being drained, their bodies weakening and aging faster than they're supposed to. Their lifespans drastically shortened.
That young mushroom pipe girl could've done something really great with her life. I could see there was hidden beauty behind all the tattoos and the prematurely aged skin, tired, drugged out eyes. But the demons have her in their clutches.
