Jack Dawkins is so blorbo shaped. Very character!
He's an incredible surgeon. He's a master thief. He's a Victorian orphan. He's in love with the governor's daughter. He's a feminist. Hes dyslexic. He's got abandonment issues. He was in the navy. He's great with a sword. He hates Oliver Twist. He's a gambler. He's being entrapped by his father figure. He performs secret surgeries to save people and revolutionize medicine.
All the reasons why I love this show, binge watched it in a weekend 2X, and can't wait for season 2!!!!
This, and gets worse as you get older!

As a former humanities student, I feel it is my duty to reblog this one.
A tech bro tried to convince me AI was amazing cause "you could make 30,000 screenplays in minutes" not realising that every single one would be shit, you'd have to sift through everything just to find some good bits, time wasted that could've been spent just writing a screenplay.
Technology Brothers know nothing about what goes into creating a work, other than the fact a work has been created to be exploited for cash. They see creativity as an investment opportunity, not a love for humanity.
Matthew Dow Smith: "Just remember: Arts & Humanities are so useless and pointless that Tech Bros were driven to spend billions of dollars to try and get a computer to do something that badly approximates something Arts & Humanities students could do half asleep and wired on coffee the night before the due date."

I may have finally found my motivation to write fanfiction... That Loki ending man oof
Any fan theories about after episode 4? My favourite one so far is that the TVA and everything resets and so they all go to their place on the timeline.
I don't know, my theory is that Mobius is Balder the brave, based on this article, and that he somehow is going to save them because he's invincible, can teleport, and is the god of light. And there's that huge beam of light coming for them, which is a sign I think. Plus before Timely died he told Mobius to be brave. Which to me was another huge foreshadowing!
i was stuck in traffic for a long time and it gave me the time to let my "once upon a time i used to write fanfiction before capitalism killed my soul" self loose for a while so i'm just gonna pretend i've been granted the gift of vision
because it was weird they took the time to show us how the blackbeard outfit sank to the bottom of the sea (mind you, for the amount of light in that shot, i'm gonna assume it wasn't that deep, also it was like 5 minutes before Izzy said they docked so they were near land after all)
it was also weird to see how ed gets rid of the outfit because we see him on the preview for the season finale wearing it -i mean, actually emerging from the sea with it.
so what a coincidence it is for ed to be a fisherman now (don't get me started on "the fish is whatever" discourse because i'm 100% siding with stede on this one), because they will either show us another fisherman pulling out blackbeard's clothes from the water just as Ed decides to go back to land and check on Stede or
he's about to jump again into the water (just as we've seen him do before to rescue stede) and, with the power of gay, he will cross upon his clothes that are not just drifting through the sea: they are tied in a net and under a cannon ball to keep them down below.
so you might ask: mmmmm have we seen that image before? and i'm gonna say HELL YES.
because hornigold tied ed to a rock and then threw said rock off the cliff to make ed sink, and die, and be forgotten.
but then merman stede came to the rescue.
and now it's time for merman ed to show up (was i dreaming or did max australia confirmed that the title of the season finale was "mer-men" or something like that?). not necessarily to rescue stede (he probably will, afterwards) but to rescue blackbeard who is now drowning.
because if stede appeared to ed as a sign of hope, a sign of light, this new ed is also that for the blackbeard who shelters under the kraken persona.
for years, ed has believed that he was a monster for killing his father. but he forgets that killing his father meant his mom would be safe (and if that makes you think of black pete turning around lucius' situation to let him see that, yes, he almost got killed, but he also LIVED, well congrats because i did too)
the kraken was born the day ed killed his father saved his mother and will be born again (the symbolism of him emerging from the sea, man, what a time to be alive) now that the love of his life stede and izzy and fang and frenchie and lucius and jim and pretty much the entire community that made him feel be part of something over the years need to be saved.
we're about to come full circle and see blackbeard's swan song, when he makes peace with the kraken and sees him not as a monster, but as a guardian. and can be at peace with the idea that he is both and he doesn't have to kill a part of him, but to embrace it and

also though i love that the show is like yes ed did get the shit beat out of him and also shot and his head crunched in with a cannon and spent time dead in the hold but has no huge visible wounds as a result and he can basically get up and walk away. unkillable gays in this house
Yay, no kill the gays in this show, they all come back! Case in point, Lucius comes back! â¤ď¸đ§Ąđđđđ
Always You - Chapter 5 (It Follows 2014)
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary: In a wealthy suburb outside of Philadelphia, Adam Thorn, a wealthy trust fund twenty-something, is transformed into a literal beast for being spoiled, selfish, and, well, kind of an a$$hole. After years of isolation, Adam seeks companionship through Fairy Tale Romance, an online dating website, and meets an extremely handsome, extremely arrogant brewpub owner and self-proclaimed horror movie buff named Gaston.
Too afraid to accept his romantic feelings for Gaston, Adam convinces himself that he needs to find someone else, someone a little less arrogant and a little more empathetic, to break the spell. After all, what could be more important than becoming human again? And so, Adam messages a beautiful and kind bookworm named Belle. Unbeknownst to him, Gaston has also messaged Belle. What a mess.
Gaston is in love with Adam. Adam is in love with Gaston. Both of them are trying to move on from each other by courting Belle.
Idiots.
Pairing: Gaston/Adam (with some Gaston/Belle and very slight Adam[Beast]/Belle)

Check out this fun and funny fic! . @thefamilybruno introduced me to the world of BATB fanfic, and Gaston ships, in particular. I love the fact that Gaston is Adam, just didn't get turned into a beast. I love reading redemption arcs too. So fun. Anyway, hope you give it a chance!
Ummm What was that ending for season 2 SAB??!! I hated it. How is Zoyalai's relationship going to develop if Alina is still there with nikolai? And I don't like that she looked like she was corrupted by power in that very last shot. Because I think the ultimate message in the series is not that all power corrupts. You see grisha who are ancient using their powers in non destructive ways. And look at Zoya, who learns how to use her powers, kick ass and rule fairly, in partnership with Nikolai. I'm disappointed with the major changes in plot and character development. And also why do they kill off Isaak????? He plays a huge role in King of scars! I don't understand đđđ§đ§

Wylan being enraptured by the "extremely rare" butterflies and the intricacies of their ecosystem and then mercilessly handing them out like doritos is the most hilarious representation of the duality of his character
Also can we just talk about The Implications from when Jack says âI wanted mankind to make their own fate. No interference from anywhere, no exceptionsâ?
Without interference, Samâs world couldâve been destroyed too. Even if Sam and the other living hunters wouldâve copped onto the danger eventually, because the Akrida needed to be killed by something not from earth, then their chances wouldâve been slim (of course, they couldâve gone to Purgatory or Hell or used the HunterCorp versions or Apocalypse versions of the people that may have still been down there âunless Jack put them back â in order to find a suitable weapon, so itâs possible they had a better chance of not getting destroyed compared to other worlds). We know this, bc Dean says it next as his reasoning for meddling.
That fact is why Dean and Baby were vital, even when the core four did most of the work throughout the season to make their own fate after Dean set the ball rolling in The Winchesters. Dean needed to interfere in order to save all the worlds.
And in doing so, isnât Dean making his own fate?
Or do you only get to make your own fate if youâre alive? (In which case, Heaven isnât quite as free as it claims to be).
Are you only considered part of mankind if youâre alive? (Ouch. The person who throughout the show, at least to Cas, has been humanityâs representative (âHeâs in love⌠with humanity,â âI loved everyone because of youâ) and one of its saviors is no longer considered to be part of that?)
Thinking outside of âChuck wonâ/âJack is corrupted by Chuck/god powerâ theories, itâs possible that since Jack is still pretty much a kid (he still canât tie his shoes đ) he just doesnât understand the nuances or full implications of the rules heâs trying to implement. He doesnât understand that without Deanâs interference those worldsâ even a world with people he cares about on itâ may have been lost. He doesnât understand that not doing anything to save those worlds is a bad thing (abstaining from action is not a neutral choice, it aligns one with the oppressor (in this case, the Akrida, and thus Chuck) in situations where one otherwise has the power to help). Heâs trying so hard to maintain peace and order, to not repeat the mistakes of his grandfather and father, that heâs tragically still missing the point. Itâs a lot of responsibility and power, and the only existing guidebook on how to wield it is basically trash so heâs having to make stuff up as he goes too. Which is terrifying and stressful and things would work so much better if people just stayed in the lines heâs drawing.
A large part of early SPN was focused on how God (and by nature, all gods, fathers, & makers) seemingly left. No prayers answered, no signs, just radio silence. His absence was the impetus for a lot of major eventsâ the angels gunning to get the apocalypse started and over with bc they wanted some peace too; the angel civil war after they averted the apocalypse and Cas subsequently swallowing Purgatory for power, going mad, and unleashing the leviathan; Cas inadvertently causing the angels to fall in the struggle for power after Naomi and Metatronâs manipulations, Metatron making himself God, the factions that arose from fallen angels; Amara being released and yelling to be heard. God being absent, and being seemingly hands-off, didnât work.
[For now Iâm not even going to dissect how Chuck claims he left because âhelicopter parentingâ didnât work, and that him leaving was okay because humanity made itâ because it had Sam and Dean. But then we see him later (and in actuality throughout the show) just trying to repeat the same narrative patterns he already wroteâ Isaac and Abraham, Cain and Abel, etc for the sake of the story when itâs revealed he does interfere]
The late seasons posit that in actuality the issue was that God interfered too much, both by writing the overall narrative and with all the times he interfered (writing himself in as Chuck, resurrecting TFW countless times, anything he did to make a good storyâ and specifically, with his actions toward the endâ killing Jack, raising Hell, snapping everyone away and trying to make his ending happen).
Jack only knows or has only experienced the latterâ with the exception of Cas not being there after he was born and his short-lived experience of being separated from a father figure in that way, he hasnât had to experience what Cas, Sam, Dean, humanity and the angels experienced for centuries. [This to me wouldâve made leaving the deleted scene from 15x19 where Jack prays to Cas but gets no answer more poignant if they left it inâ Jack knows what praying to no one feels like, what that pain and confusion is like]. Especially since Jack was just able to wake Cas up from the Empty anyway, and evidently pull him back out unseen in the finale, compared to everyone else he hasnât had to experience the early seasons absent god/father struggles. He doesnât understand that interference from on high isnât always a bad thing in terms of where it gets humanity; the issue was that Chuck did it as entertainment, toyed with them and forced them through all this for a story. The solution then, is to just try to get Jack to understand the nuance and help with the rules and reign (which we see here a little bit, when both Dean and Bobby explain why Dean interfered and Bobby vouches for him, so Jack allows it, giving him the Colt. He still wants to put Dean back in the Heaven box but again, heâs just trying to hold things to gather and it would be a lot easier if everyone would stay where they were put).
But it shouldnât be solely up to Jack to bear that weight.
Over and over the show has shown us that any single person trying to dictate how Heaven should be run or trying to fill that space â be it Chuck himself, or a well-meaning Cas, or Raphael, or Naomi, or Metatron, or Luciferâ doesnât work. Over and over the show has shown us that what does work is when people work as a teamâ team free will, both versions; any time they rally all their allies to unite against a force bigger than they are; every version of found family on the show. Every time a hunter helps another. (Something The Winchesters emphasizes too.) Any time they win â whether it be finally killing Azazel, stopping the apocalypse, stopping the leviathan, or Amara, etcâ although itâs usually one of the boys that does the final act, they never get there on their own. It always takes the help and teamwork from friends and foes alike to get there.
Although Amara wasnât always great (blame her early attitude on Chuck), she brought up a good point about how ruling should have been about balanceâ not a single point of view or dictatorial narrative, but at the least two of them, working in tandem. Although Chuck absorbed Amara and Jack took in Amara when he took Chuckâs power, this balance still isnât something we necessarily got to see onscreen in either show. It would be nice to see Amara out and let her help, along with getting visual confirmation that Cas is there and helping too, and itâs not just Jack.
If you do look at the situation from a âChuck won/corruptionâ theory, however, then the implications are far more sinisterâ Jack doesnât want Dean or anyone interfering, meaning those worlds including Samâs wouldâve been destroyed. Interfere, and risk getting cast out of Heavenâ and away from where you got the chance to meddle in the first place. Heâs choosing to not interfere because on the surface it makes him look like a better, changed God, but I reiterate: abstaining from action is not a neutral choice, and in a situation where he literally has the power to do otherwise, it aligns him with the villainâ the Akrida, and thus Chuck. So nothing has really changed, underneath. Mankind makes their own fate but only within limited parameters set up by Chuck, making it a rigged game. Itâs a no-win scenario. Dean has to go back to the box of Heaven, where despite his family being down the road from him he still feels driven to seek out a universe where his family had a shot at a happy ending. Dean is made to go back to where Carry On was playing, where he no longer gets to pick the music. (In. What. World. Would Dean pick that cover of Wayward Son. đ)
Either way, whether Jack is actively corrupted by Chuck, or if he just doesnât really fully understand what heâs doing, Jack needs a little help in running Heaven and the multiverse. Dean should be allowed to be part of that help. We should get to see Cas be part of that help. We should get to see Jack change a little more, to have more nuanced understanding and flexibility.
And we should get to see that more in Season 2 if the show is renewed.
