i've been meaning to make a follow up to last year’s nicojack wrapped, but time kind of got away from me lmao. as another devs season has come to an end, i’m feeling sentimental about all of the incredible fics we've gotten to read over the past few months!! fandom is truly such a gift!!!
this list is by no means exhaustive because i am a notoriously slow reader and still have a bunch of fic waiting for me in my marked for later. in no particular order, these are some of my favourite fics from the past year-ish:

When Jack walks Quinn out of the hospital Nico's got the car pulled up in the loading zone, engine running, ready to make a quick escape. Or, more likely, to politely explain to an employee that he'll only be waiting for a few more minutes, he promises, and he hopes he isn't breaking any rules.
Nico's not really a getaway driver kinda guy.
the road trip from hell!!! nico has a moustache and no one is having a good time!!!! emotionally distant reverse cowgirl!!!!!!!! truly such a beautiful work. this fic is very special to me!!!!!!!!!

Waking up to the news that the Weinberg has been stolen out of the Siegenthalers’ dining room is only the third worst thing to happen to Nico in the span of a few hours.
it doesn't count that i also recced this last year because chapter 3 was posted after my last reclist and it was 43k!! that is basically an entire extra fic. lhugh thousand words of a chapter!!! heist my very most beloved. greatest of all time, another greenteam banger, lil never ever misses etc etc etc. if you haven't given this one a read yet, i cannot recommend it enough. there is truly not nearly enough nico/jack/jonas out there

Two years ago - his shoulder. Nico and everyone getting on his case for playing injured – it’d been unbearable and if this is how Nico had felt, Jack owes him an apology, he owes him so much, so fucking much, but he can’t think about that. Just Nico now. Nico being sick, and Nico not being better.
“You’re not supposed to call me baby here,” Nico says, like that’s an adequate answer, and he smiles again, a small, weakthing and Jack wants to kill him and kiss him and more than anything, for him to be okay.

this one feels sooooo visceral. you know those fics that just like... transport you entirely out of your body and you forget you even exist while you're reading them?? this was one of those.

There's been a lot of words used to describe Jack Hughes over the years. He's been called exceptional, and overrated. Arrogant, calculated, talented, fast, fragile, emotional, cold, immature, intelligent, loyal, fickle. He's been called pretty much everything under the sun, really.
The word he uses to himself, mostly, though, is careful.

As kids they all got the same warnings: that stretching the bond on purpose meant stretching their own humanity, weakening it and making it thin. Nico had prayed a lot before he decided to do it, had promised himself he would stop if he thought he was causing real harm.
Had Jack done the same? Did he care? It was impossible to tell as Nico watched him laugh with the boys during practice, his dæmon wrapped around his neck like a scarf.
