Fic idea!!
What if Harry goes back in time after winning the war to post Hogwarts Tom Riddle era and opens an orphanage. Opens one OR buys Wools, whichever, but one freshly-out-of-school Tom Riddle needs people for some sort of ritual, and where better to get them than the very place he was raised? Somewhere that wouldn't care if a child went missing every once in a while, after all, they practically wanted him to go missing his whole life. So he walks into the yard one day in broad daylight, and he looks presentable, trustworthy, normal, forgettable. There is one child hanging around the fringes, "this one they will not notice going missing" he decides. Tom Riddle leaves. He comes back that night, well past bedtime, and creeps in through the front door. Sneaking through the house, he finds his prize, a sleeping boy, maybe twelve, he'll work great for this ritual. As he crosses the threshold into his room (a single, of course), there's a shift in the air. Barely noticeable to the untrained, but untrained he is not. He turns on his heel, ready to leave, and comes face to face with a man. Maybe a year or two younger than himself, unnatural green eyes, and most striking, a curse scar on his forehead.
That night had been normal for Harry. He fed the children, told some of the young ones a fairy tale (Rumplestiltskin had been the recent favorite), and put them all to bed. He himself went to bed an hour later after checking the wards on the childrens' bedrooms. No child would go unprotected or unloved in his care. It's midnight when he wakes up with this terrible feeling in his chest. Five minutes later, he feels someone walk through the wards in Jonathan's room. Whoever just walked into his room is someone he's met before. It doesn't matter. Nobody should be here this late. Harry silently stalks out of his room and makes his way upstairs, when he turns the corner where Jonathan's room is, he comes face to face with one Tom Riddle. He's older than he was in the diary and handsomer than when Harry was seventeen, but it's him.
For a moment, they just look at each other. Green eyes meet brown in the hallway of Wools. The ring on young Voldemort's hand starts to glow, and whispering fills the room. Then, without much fanfare, everything goes dark for the two men, and something is filled again in Harry's chest.
Anyways I had this idea while making a sandwich and thought it could be cool :)
