This article was written during the height of the First Intifada in Palestine, when Palestinians were facing insane violence for participating in mostly-peaceful strikes and protests against their occupiers.

In the heart of the war, specifically in April 2025, the Isnad initiative was launched with the effort of a team of university students to provide a safe and free space to study for themselves and other university students face one fate of displacement and the destruction of their homes, universities and infrastructure.

We aspire to expand the workspace by renting a larger place to benefit 40 other students. The cost of this will be $3500 per month with tax fees.

As shared yesterday, Joan’s doctor has ordered a new scan of her stomach to study the severity of her condition. This is a very important scan! It will help guide Joan’s treatment going forward! The scan is scheduled for Tuesday 13 May 2025, which is in 6 days.

Unfortunately, the cost of the scan is much higher than Maha was previously advised. It will cost $1,200 USD. This means we have 6 days to raise $1,200 USD. It sounds difficult, but I truly believe we can do it!

In a corner of Gaza, my family and I are drowning in destruction, with the echoes of suffering surrounding us. I sat beside my modest tent, hastily erected after losing my home in the latest bombing. The faces of my family tell stories of patience and resilience, with lines of time etched upon them, as if they were records of unforgettable events. 🇵🇸⏳🍉

I once lived in a small home, filled with the laughter and voices of my children. Today, I have become a witness to the agony of displacement. The bombing forced me to flee with my children after a shell struck our home, leaving behind years of memories and simple belongings I never imagined would become unreachable. 🏚️💨

Every morning, I leave my tent and go to work, using a clay oven to provide food for my children. Meanwhile, my youngest son heads to the charity kitchens that offer aid, waiting for long hours under Gaza’s scorching sun. Despite the exhaustion that weighs down his frail body, he carries the food mixed with his tears and returns with a fake smile, hiding behind it the burdens of his struggles. 🍞🥀

At night, when everyone else is asleep, I remain seated at the entrance of my tent, gazing at the dark sky, reminiscing about days gone by… about my home that was once filled with warmth. Yet, I still find remnants of hope in my heart—a hope that one day peace will return, and my children and I will live in a new home, filled with joy. 🌙🏡✨

In moments of solitude, I find peace in prayer and supplication. I plead to God to protect Gaza and its people, to wipe away the dust of sorrow from our hearts. I always repeat🇵🇸🍉🌿

Eid Al Fitr, 2025 -- Gaza

As many already know, the past week Muslims around the world celebrated Eid Al-Fitr. And for those in Gaza, Muslim Palestinians were forced celebrate Eid in the midst of a deadly genocide under the risk of bombardment and death.

Among these is a brave Gazan teacher who used what little money she had raised for her own family to make this Eid special for the children in her community. This teacher is Shahd Abumousa's mother @drshahd. In addition to continuing her duties as an educator in her community, she is bringing hope to Gazan children in her community who have experienced unimaginable loss and trauma.

Shahd has been fundraising since early last year to provide for her family, and she has only raised $31,497 out of her goal of $100,000. In last few days, her fundraiser has completely stagnated, raising only $7 in 4 days. Let's not forget the Abumousa family and their contributions to their community. Keep sharing their story and don't forget them during these difficult and horrific times.

Maha and the children were not able to evacuate before the IOF surrounded their area. They are under fire NOW.

Little Khalil has been injured after the lOF rigged a nearby house to explode. Then while seeking shelter, the lOF fired gas canisters at them. They were unable to escape the gas, and now Joan is struggling to breathe!

They need funds for transportation, rent, and treatment for Joan’s breathing problems! In total, this means the amount they require is $2,300 USD. However, we are going to split this goal up. We will focus first an raising funds for transport and rent, totaling $1,700 USD

We are making progress, but still moving very slowly. Maha and the kids are extremely desperate and we are their only hope of escaping the attack zone and getting shelter and treatment. Please share their story and their campaign so we can get them some help!!

I am surprised and depressed to learn it’s 100% true, according to google. A Blockbuster store was required to have a minimum of 7000 titles, but most averaged about 10,000. Netflix has 4000 movies. (And 1800 tv shows if you want to count those, but even included, it’s still less)
