Video! Broadway’s SPRING AWAKENING in Rehearsal: ‘The Bitch of Living’
“I wore a wig for the first act, and it was part of the second act. We incorporated it because that was part of my life. That’s the great thing about this show. As in the past Deaf West productions, there’s been sort of a conceptual hearing voice/deaf mixture; whereas in this version, the characters are deaf. If the actor is deaf, the character is deaf. If the actor is in a wheelchair, the character is in a wheelchair. The actor has cancer, the character has cancer. We’ve brought who we are, and that’s what makes the show really special.”
So we know everyone is excited for Spring Awakening to return to Broadway… but isn’t it also awesome that it’s going to feature Deaf actors and American Sign Language? This video about making a Deaf musical is fascinating!

So exited!!! feels unreal
“I think that it is very important if you know what you want, understand where you are heading towards, and try your best to get it. It is only when we use our hearts to do it, and fall in love with what we are doing, then can we really get real determination.”
