Why the fuck are y’all so uncomfortable with fictional characters occasionally making bad decisions? Especially in the HR fandom, like anytime Shane or Ilya behave in a way that isn’t ‘prince charming, wokest gayest hockey player’ yall attack the author and it’s like???????????

In a deleted scene Ilya’s teammates were talking shit about Shane and he doesn’t say anything. Like yeah, a perfect bf, even if he was a secret, would’ve said something. But Ilya is not perfect. Shane is not perfect. They have imperfect thoughts and do things that unintentionally hurt each other or perpetuate shitty social norms.

“Shane / Ilya would never do this.” Well they did. and it’s okay. I promise it’s okay. RR isn’t this fucking villain y’all wanna make her out to be just because the characters you like occasionally do shitty things.

Write your own fucking perfect characters then, but stop insisting you are just SOOO much more enlightened about the characters than the literal creators like you sound dumb as fuck saying shit like “#myshane/ilya would never’ in regards to things they CANONICALLY do. Like y’all are BIG delusional.

Also complaining about a DELETED SCENE? SOMETHING NOT INCLUDED IN THE STORY? Please touch grass and I’m dead ass.

These days, lots of public libraries have a "library of things" collection where you can check out kitchen appliances or yard tools or toys, and, as a children's library assistant, the most popular library of things item that I handle regularly is a plastic scepter thingy called like "unicorn princess magic wand". And whenever I check it out I make a big show of looking at the little kid and being like "do you solemnly swear to use your unicorn princess magic powers only for good and never for evil?"

And pretty much without fail, the little kid will get the world's most mischievous grin and go "I'm gonna use it for EVIL!!!"

i really feel like with the ilya/yuna relationship it's like genuinely 3 years of an actually picturesque mother-in-law/son-in-law relationship where they are like finishing each other's sandwiches and are like mind melding in the drift because 1) ilya's never had a chill mom who's alive 2) yuna's never had a chill son she can hang out with without him getting suddenly very upset and angry about Swedish Princesses

and yuna and ilya are like skipping in daisies together being like "wow!! :) it could've been this easy this entire time????!" also. i'm not saying david doesn't care about shane but i mean. both ilya and yuna would probably be relieved to finally confide in someone that takes shane as seriously as they do LOL.

but then like oh my god it takes just like. ONE. thing getting way too real for shane. i.e. the metros KICKING HIM OUT OF MONTREAL???! and they can NOT stop yelling at each other. like ilya says one bad thing about the metros and yuna goes fucking sicko mode on him. because now he goes from her son's fun boyfriend to the Former Raider who Ruined her Son's Career. and it takes yuna saying One insensitive comment about shane's diet and ilya goes fucking ballistic. and both of them are being this crazy because they are taking out all their anger on each other because they are so fucking stressed out from making sure shane doesn't go Full Britney post-outing.

I really do love that Ilya was that mysterious ass coworker who doesn’t share anything about his personal life. He moved to Ottawa from one of the best teams in the league, he misses team events randomly despite being the captain, and doesn’t always travel with them (especially when they play in Montreal). His teammates just don’t question it and are like “yeah he’s a weird dude so whatever” lmao.
