Oh, how it amuses me when these students think that just because they have a new professor that we will be a pushover. Plus, the inappropriate comments to their friends that they think I don’t hear makes it even better.

"The best thing about these sort of parties is the booze and the food," she motions for a waiter with a tray to come over and picks off a few appetizers, and she handed a few to River. "I know you do, I do too, but I like not doing anything more."
"I'll give you that, but the people are less than appealing sometimes." She shrugs. "Don't get me wrong, not all of them are, but still not my style." She takes some of the food and smiles. "Mhm, good food." She grins and keeps her eyes on Tess.

"I always do, don’t I?" She grins taking a sip of her champagne, sliding the other glass over to River. "I’d be up for that, if I’m still sober by then," Tess adds the last bit as an after thought. "That was quick. It takes me forever to unpack unless Annie’s cracking her whip behind me."
She nods. "Yes, you do." Reaching for the glass she smiles and takes a long drink from it. "I think we should have more of this, but I don't want to be carrying you out of here." She nods remembering how fast she had gotten the place together after the truck arrived with the last of her things. "well I did have he moving boys help me move the heavy things, and tipped them well." She takes the rest of the champagne "plus you know how I like order."

"You’re with me, he already thinks you’re crazy, Riv." Tess teases lightly. "I’ve always been chivalrous, thanks for finally noticing," She smiles a little when River mentions what she had planned for the night. "I was actually going to start that show soon, it looks good."
"You have a valid point." She laughs, feeling more comfortable than she had in a long time, and she nearly hates that it's Tess making her feel so normal again. She smiles at her, and gets lost for a moment. "It does look good, maybe after this is over we can head back to my place and watch it?" She adds "The apartment is in order now, all things have arrived, so there will be no tripping over boxes."

"The man's going to thin I am crazy or something." She says following after her. She smiles at the gesture of Tess pulling out her chair and gives her a funny look, "Since when are you so chivalrous?" she asks, more teasing than anything else. "Kinda." She says honestly, "I was all set to start that new show orange is the new black, and finishing a bottle of wine."

"But you’re cute when you’re drunk," Tess teases lightly, nudging her softly. The man smiled at her response, "I’m sure you could make anything elegant, darling," and Tess just grinned, "She does have a way with weapons." She bit her lip, looking over at River. "If you’ll excuse me," Tess’s boss smiled before walking away. "Wanna find somewhere to sit?" she asks.
"Oh I am so no." she says with a small laugh, nudging her back. River arches a brow at his response and shakes her head at Tess. "Way with weapons?" she ask once her boss is away from them. "Really?" She nods. "Anywhere is fine with me." she says letting Tess lead.
