“Just Riku, please,” he said quietly, and reached up a hand to press against Angeal’s chest, to smooth his hands down and reach around, pulling him back into him in a makeshift hug. He was so warm--even with the bath he’d had, he much preferred body heat. The water was only warm for so long, after all...

Shuddering, Riku had to pause to swallow hard, able to even hear his gulp. It was hard (ha) not to notice that Angeal was considerably aroused, and it wasn’t like it was easy to miss his own arousal, but he’d--he’d never felt someone else’s against his before, and it made him a little self-conscious.

“Uh… I haven’t thought about it like that before…” And he has ate a few other vampires before. Oh well, turns out he’s a cannibal vampire now.

Aaaand he’s getting a strange look, now.

“…No? It isn’t the same as that at all! I can still eat normal food, but I prefer the blood. It’s basically where I get my nutrition from.”

“I never said it was the only thing you guys ate...” (Not that he knew they ate more than blood, but hey, details.) 

“Excuse? I’m a vampire.”

“He’s a stable boy, I’m not sure he’s as discerning as you think. And he was awed by you, Riku. He sort of implied he’d be happier to have you on the throne than me and had to apologize,” Angeal chuckled, gently patting her hand as they moved back into the palace and ascended a small flight of stairs.

As they ascended up a small flight of stairs, he lead them to a set of double doors. “You don’t need to worry about my reputation. What happens, happens. I’ll comport myself as best as I can, and I’m not ashamed of you, or the fact that you weren’t raised royal. And, here we are,” he said, pushing the doors open with one hand, and leading her into the rather lavish suite that she had to herself.

“Well, I don’t agree with that,” she laughed, a little uneasy. Riku wasn’t well-versed in politics, but she was starting to see a worrying trend... Angeal had brought it up and it started to fit into place: how the people were so thankful to finally find one of their lost monarchs that they were already rejoicing when they didn’t even know how good a leader she could be. 

Angeal and his family had done more than enough to not be usurped so quickly, she thought, falling into a more somber mood as she watched him open the door to her suite. 

He quirks his mouth to the side in a lopsided smile. “Any cake is good, huh? You definitely haven’t had Sora’s ‘cake’,” he shrugs nevertheless, chuckling a little. “Alright, alright. I’ll make my best.” 

It takes about an hour or so, but a salted caramel ice cream cake is ready on the table with a box--there’s a meticulously crafted leather jacket, worn down in just the right places and comfy. Also probably the most obnoxious scarf known to mankind, sweet toffee (the stretchy and crunchy kind) and gloves with an abstract phoenix design on the back of the hand--the gloves have a note, ‘try not to get too many callouses’.
