Almost There!

So I’m in the home stretch of my pregnancy. I never really thought I would be here, but here I am! I’m pretty uncomfortable most of the time. I’m not even that big! I think it’s a combination of me being older, of having a broken body from the car accident, and all these digestive issues.

I had my baby shower last weekend. It got off to a rough start but it was great overall. I feel so blessed in that all of the major stuff has been purchased already (i.e. crib, car seat, video baby monitor, etc.). The only thing we really need to get is a pack and play and a high chair. I’m really and truly in awe of everyone’s thoughtfulness!

Still no name yet. BF and I just can’t agree on anything. People are kinda shocked by this, but that’s ok. I just want him to be healthy. I spend a good part of the day concerned because he isn’t super active movement-wise during the day. He picks up his activity at night. Hopefully it’s a sign that he’s going to just be a calm, chill baby. We’ll see!

People “Debating” You Online

People just kill me! Random FB person starts debating me about Black Americans and them playing the victim. Of course this is an immigrant with the common “I’ve had to overcome so much too...you don’t hear me complaining or see me protesting!”. Anyway I suggested that she read up on Amercian sociology and racial inequality. The response (no joke): “I’m smart enough to be a professor myself. I don’t need to read anyone else’s messed up statistics!”. Umm....alrighty then. No words; no words at ALL!

Growing

Well I’ll be 20 weeks tomorrow. Naturally I’m on pins and needles due to my previous losses. With this baby, I had a major bleeding episode at 9 weeks. I was in the grocery store and a puddle of blood formed at my feet! It was a subchorionic hemorrhage. I passed a clot the size of my palm (eventually) and bled for another 2-3 weeks. However it stopped/resolved, and the following week I traveled to Indianapolis, IN to get a transabdominal cerclage placed.

It took me a few weeks to recover, but now I’m pretty much back to normal. Instead of a cute baby bump, I just look fat. Kind of like a guy with a beer gut. Seriously...my torso is expanding from under my bra line. Not very flattering! Anyway...it’s ok. As long as baby is doing well. And it is...cervix is holding long and well. Gender reveal party is later on today....so that should be fun ;-)

I saw some clips from the Oscars last night. All I can say is that it was awkward and borderline painful. Chris Rock tried to hard to make a point and White people were nervously laughing (but laughing nonetheless) at the plight of Black people. Way too strange, unnatural, and disappointing....not genuine concern or awareness in the least!

Suspected that I was pregnant, but didn’t confirm with a test until yesterday (2/21/16). Due date = 10/31/16 ! Prayers and gratitude to G-d. Long, hard road ahead, but with G-d’s help, I have faith we’ll make it through!

I’ve never been on #TeamAmber ; but I just loved how she stood up to Kanye West and put him in his place. I then stumbled on this article TIME wrote on her last Nov. She brings up a fantastic point how we are so quick to highlight a woman’s unsavory past (and she can’t overcome it for the life of her), but with men, people have amnesia (Jay-Z was a drug dealer folks!). Definitely smarter than “K.K.” any day!
