Howdy! I'm Risen Angel (she/her/they/them), a wannabe writer/game developer. I say "wannabe" because I have big dreams but not the executive functioning to achieve them.
I originally created this Tumblr to be my general dumping place for thoughts that didn't fit elsewhere, hence the name. But then I wound up never using it for that and now it's 99.99% reblogs of random things I find interesting. Such go the best laid plans, I suppose.
I currently have asks and mentions turned off and limited, respectively. I don't think I have enough (human) followers to really make it worthwhile; I just kept getting bot asks, scams, etc.
As for the general content here....
Anywhere from 45-50% of the posts here are reblogs of cute anime girl art, because Tumblr's become the place I go to for that apparently. I don't usually focus on any one fandom, because the fandoms that do focus on cute anime girls also tend to have a number of things that I find to be dealbreakers (usually one or more of "the girls exist to be waifu bait and not actual characters", "it's a hentai/ecchi work", and/or "it's a gacha game"). If I find the character cute, I'll probably reblog.
Hatsune Miku pops up a lot because I find her design to be cute and gender, despite the fact I don't actually listen to Vocaloid music or anything of that nature.
A good chunk of the above focuses on magical girls specifically. Again, I usually just focus on "do I find this character cute?" and not on any specific fandom; I figure I'll probably find a magical girl work that speaks to me sometime, but for now I find I prefer the idea of the genre to any of the works that actually exist, for one reason or the other.
As for what the remaining content here's like, in order of precedence:
*Writing advice/memes/etc. I'm a wannabe creative; it helps to reblog things I want to remember for later (or just laugh at my own failings).
*Mental health memes/advice/etc. I'm several flavors of neurodivergent, see reblog note above.
*Animals. Particularly reptiles, bugs, and fish. Especially showcases of how these creatures are more intelligent and generally complex than most people think they are. (I always make sure to tag appropriately, if you don't want to see a certain thing. Noting that here because I know not everyone's a fan of the creepy crawlies.)
*Paleoart and general prehistoric life. Dinosaurs great, and so are the more obscure creatures that lived in Earth's distant past.
*Things I actually am a fan of. Undertale/Deltarune (the latter more often than not these days, but the former still holds a special place in my heart) and Sonic are the big ones, but there's other less prominent things I like and will note if I see them. Generally I'm a big video game person without much focus on other forms of media; maybe one of these days I'll expand my horizons a little more? /Wishful thinking
*Other miscellaneous art that stands out to me for one reason or the other.
*Hope, positivity, and things people can do to make the world a better place. I'm tired of hearing how the world sucks; I want to know how to make the world suck less.
*Other random things I find funny, interesting, or helpful.
Also, this blog is a safe space for queer folk of all kinds. If you have an issue with that, please DNI; I'm sure you have better things to do.

This is an awesome use of what is probably a master's degree if not a doctorate and I am 100% thrilled that she shared it even though it was embarrassing and she squeaked.

i love you all and i need you to stop writing trauma as a single breakdown scene in the rain after which the character is Healed and Ready to Love Again. that is NOT trauma :(
⊹ Trauma doesn't announce itself. it shows up as your character suddenly not being able to eat a specific food, or going very quiet in a loud room, or laughing at the wrong moment because their nervous system decided that was the appropriate response. it's mundane and weird and it makes no sense from the outside. the dramatic flashback sequence is the least realistic part. the most realistic part is your character suddenly needing to leave a grocery store for a reason they can't articulate.
⊹ The body keeps score and it keeps it in the strangest places. a particular smell. the quality of light at a certain time of day. a tone of voice that sounds like someone who hurt them. your traumatised character doesn't think "this reminds me of the bad thing." their heart rate spikes and they don't know why. they feel wrong and they can't locate the feeling. they're irritable for three days and only later, if ever, do they make the connection. write the disconnection. it's more honest.
⊹ trauma also does not make people universally sympathetic and wise. it makes some people controlling. some people funny at inappropriate times. some people very good in a crisis and completely unable to handle a normal day. some people are generously kind to strangers and absolutely terrible to people they love. trauma shapes behaviour in contradictory, inconvenient ways that don't resolve into a lesson. your traumatised character can be difficult to like. that's not a flaw in the writing. that's the WRITING.
⊹ Healing is not linear and it is not a destination. your character does not get better and stay better. they have a good month and then something small undoes two years of progress and they have to start again with slightly more tools than before. that's the actual shape of it. the spiral, not the arc. the scene where they finally open up and cry is not the end. it might not even be progress. sometimes it just means they were tired that night.
AKIBA! Weather Girls. Concept art. Tells the story of 3 girls that use the powers of music and perform to fight evil pixies that change the weather. Inspired by Aikatsu and Pretty Series.
