I'm fascinated by your art. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us! May i ask you about something you mentioned in your answer to @celebbun's question? You wrote "I don't see the relationship between Melkor and Mairon as sweet and soft, honestly, I thought they wouldn't be particularly accepted in the fandom🥲". If it’s okay, i'd like to learn more about how you view their relationship (given that your angbang works seem to have something quiet and delicate/tender about them in a very special way, without detracting from Mairon's and Melkor's nature as dark lords). I’m sorry you were worried that your ideas wouldn’t be accepted. (Oh i worry about that too tbh). But why, really, considering your brilliant art? Also, there are as many interpretations and possibilities as there are readers; after all, i think everyone should feel free to imagine whatever they like. <3
thanks for your words about my art🌸
english is not my native language, so there may be mistakes
I'll try to explain how I see the relationship between them. You're right, I do depict delicacy and neatness between Melkor and Mairon, but it is not taken from a loving and tender attitude towards the other, but from the understatement and circumvention of topics that seem to be on the surface, but are ignored by both Mairon and Melkor, as if they are not talked about, then they are not It exists.
Mairon's neatness and obedience is taken from fear of his Lord, and love from fanaticism. He doesn't love Melkor in the usual sense, he is literally crazy about him and is ready to unquestioningly do everything that his Lord needs, as well as put up with his sometimes unusual behavior towards himself. He's convenient, but only for his Lord. Yes, sometimes Mairon makes attempts to object and declare that he is uncomfortable with Melkor's actions, and some actions even seem too much to him, but all his attempts are quickly stopped, and Mairon doesn't need to be repeated twice.
Melkor, in this relationship, is an infantile egoist and, in a sense, even a sadist. He commits actions that will obviously be unpleasant to Mairon, and he understands this, but continues to do so, because he has his emotions and feelings first than Mairon's feelings. Melkor knows what his actions can lead to and what the consequences will be, but he doesn't care deeply, it's important to him here and now. You could see many examples of this in my sketches, but I'll give you two of my favorite examples: I think Mairon loves and appreciates his personal space very much and doesn't tolerate intrusion into it, but Melkor generally doesn't care what Mairon wants there, he steadily continues to violate his personal space, because he wants to cuddle Mairon, but he doesn't really care what Mairon feels at this moment; I also think that Mairon's freckles could have disappeared precisely because of Melkor, because of his touch and the cold and darkness he exuded, and when the freckles reappeared due to Mairon and Melkor's long separation, Mairon warns that if his Lord likes freckles, then it's better for him not to touch them, but Melkor, realizing that they will come down because of him, and he will not see them again, continues to touch Mai anyway. My point is that Melkor cannot give up the source of his positive emotions, even if his actions harm that source.
Melkor hasn't concept of love, he doesn't know how to love in our usual understanding. He will not make concessions and understand, he will put himself above the one he loves. What can't be said about Mairon, he knows that there is love, because it is he who expresses its signs in my sketches, but during his time with Melkor, this concept inside him became so distorted that it turned into fanaticism. Mairon is really just as afraid of his Lord's anger as he is that he will leave him if Mai is not compliant.
I like to depict and write in Mairon and Melkor's relationship not what should be in plain sight, but what is hidden between them, through careful choice of words and mostly careful and minimal physical contact.
I was worried that my art wouldn't be welcomed, because I'd only seen melron as gentle or passionate, but I hadn't been in the fandom for too long either. In addition, there are now a lot of those who accuse the author of the sins he portrays on the characters. And I wouldn't say that my art is exceptional and unusual, don't think, I'm not complaining✋, it's just that there's a big difference between the community in my mentality and the mentality that exists here.
Thank you so much for your reply 💖!
Your view of Melron is very plausible and interesting, and your ideas about their relationship set a film playing in my head. I thought your art was awesome before, and now i can understand your vision even better. I find it particularly fascinating how Mel and Mai prefer to avoid topics that are there but are best left unmentioned, or so they think. I imagine the quiet, almost delicate atmosphere often depicted in your works as a special "silence" they share, something that exists only between the two of them, and it is in contrast to the roar of war and violence they wield in the outside world. Mel putting his wishes above everyone else's is summed up perfectly by his disregard for Mai's need for personal space, also your ideas about the freckles: their fading beneath Melkor's touch is a symbol of the tragedy that Mel tends to destroy what he desires. Your art tells so much, and it is gorgeous.
Like you, i haven't been here long, and i certainly haven’t got to know much yet, but whatever some may say, one thing is absolutely clear to me: Art and imagination are free. So is the art viewer, the reader, the writer. Everyone can choose which concept, piece of art, fic or idea they would like to create or to see/read. We can take delight in things that reflect our own ideas, and we can also allow ourselves to be intrigued by new views, look beyond our own horizon. I do not understand the urge to judge or blame others. I absolutely don't get it.
So far, i only met kind and welcoming people here. I wish you the same experience! And i am very sorry if your experiences have been different. Don't let it get to you. <3
You're a very talented artist with an amazing and very special art style. I admire your work. Thank you again for sharing your work with us, and thank you again for your answer! <3
how could I not reply, I don't have so many questions yet that I don't reply them😋
I am pleased that you accept my image🌸
Among other things, I missed the fact that I was trying to convey the invisible tension between them, taut and tinkling like an incorrectly tuned string.🥀 In general, they have an association with a musical instrument that still can't tune properly.
I would also say that it's not freckles that can be such a symbol (I just thought it was an interesting point for their relationship and their illustrations), but rather the image of Mai itself.
I'm sorry, it seems like I was drawn to something too much.🤏🤏

Just passing by to say that I really really love your art and your style and your designs. Both your Annatar design and the way you draw Melkor and Mairon's relationship are some of my absolute favourites I've seen in the fandom
thanks, I am very pleased that my style and vision of the characters have found a response in someone. I really love details and patterns; but I don't see the relationship between Melkor and Mairon as sweet and soft, honestly, I thought they wouldn't be particularly accepted in the fandom🥲

What has inspired your art style if there’s any? It’s very unique I like it
My English is bad, so I apologize for the mistakes.
Thanks, but I've never considered my style to be anything unique, to be honest. But, to be fair, I hear it privately and still can't figure out what's unique about it🧐
I just painted for a long time the way I like, without full confidence in references (I honestly didn't use references either, and I rarely use them now). I've been trying to draw in the anime style for a long time, but in 2020 I started at fd, which saw a revolution in style, and it began to move closer to realism. my inspirations and those I looked up to back then were Phobs (in fact, I've been following Phobs since 2017, after reading a comic book by the publisher she works for, and later. I found out that she also drew Silmarillion, and made a great contribution to the community, you have 100% seen her work), key (I found her already as an artist in the same publishing house) and popoponya (I got her through recommendations, she also has an account here).
I didn't copy them, but I took something from their styles that I liked the way they were depicted, for example, in Phobs and Key it was the dynamics of both movements and emotions, the image of parts of the face, and in popoponya the artistry and lightness of the pictures due to certain poses and positions. at this point, I have already moved away from some kind of repetition (?), and began to draw the way I see it in the first place
