It would be a perfect way to tie in Vanessa and Ivan’s backstory if the ballon squad in sram and Cro!Yousef was a part of Ivan’s former basketball team. The ballon squad being basketball players would also be a very sweet nod to the original and how Sana and Yousef played basketball together

We still don’t know what exactly happened to Ivan’s knee and how he got the injury and why he fell out with the team, and I think that’s a very purposeful decision as it opens up the opportunity to explore Ivan’s backstory in season 4, like they did Even’s in the original

One of the backstory elements we did learn about Ivan during season 3 is that he has an ex boyfriend, and I believe it would be the most logical choice and a very interesting change if they made Cro!Mikael his ex

The statement Vanessa said to Lovro about the difficulty of being both Romani and gay (I paraphrased without the slurs here), couldve simply been a throwaway line to give him some perspective on his situation, but it also could’ve sounded like she was talking about herself. And while I don’t expect it, I would love for Vanessa to be canonically queer, which is a still a possibility since we don’t know anything about her dating history and from what we know so far Vanessa only has sisters (she mentioned doing her sister’s makeup in season 1), so if Cro!Yousef is a friend of her sister, then Yousef could either be gender swapped or the ballon squad might simply also include women

But Vanessa’s statement about being Romani and gay could’ve also been about someone she knows, and I think it could be a very interesting perspective and change for Cro!Mikael to be the ex boyfriend that Ivan mentioned to Lovro

People will say all kinds of things about you. And think things. Because it's easier to think about other people's lives than your own. Because, unfortunately, for people like you, it's really hard to understand that to be who you are is the hardest thing in the world, and it takes courage.
