your union will leave me dry
jan 3, 2019
you, a breeze, dispersed my smokescreens,
allowing the flame to burn pure and bright.
come and go quickly to wonder dream realms
I can only hope for your return.
you, a pond of lilies and love, once hidden and shy.
I’d sit by the shore, sharing rejection and fears.
others now gather around you, laughing and hugging your waves…
they treat you well, my time has passed.
you, a lonely flower, healed my corrupted lungs.
in gratitude, I invite you to my garden,
but now I watch my fruits and blossoms die
for you drained my soil of love to survive.
your union will leave me dry.
devoid of air, water, and life,
my heart and soul begin to suffocate,
and bloodshot eyes gasp for tears,
while grey cheeks long for warm kisses.
a desperate mind, a lonely mind
will cling to anything, will cry with blame.
why must you love one another?
am I cruel? I am forgotten.
I crackle, waiting to burn out.
